Shooting an outdoors tomorrow, need advice please!

Need some advice about shooting at an outdoor event tomorrow. Basically I'm worried about the awful rain thats been on and off. Any tips on what to cover my cam in? I work in an outdoor shop and bought two waterproof bags today and was thinking of putting it in that and cutting a hole for the lens to shoot through? I heard about some "agua-something" that covers cams but unfortunetly conns are out of em so I need a home made alternative. Also has anyone ever shot a concert with an SLR from the crowd, was there any hassle with security etc? Cheers,

    -Ryan

I use the microfibre towels from Millets draped ove the camera (fold it up so its nice and thick first) Used them at an event the other week were it p***ed rain for the day and everything was grand. I have two of the really large ones.

I'd be quite wary shooting from the crowd with an SLR anyways, never mind the rain. Security might take quite a disliking to you if they see the camera.

    What camera are you using?

Fubs it'd probably depend on the gig mate. Who's playing? I think if it's a little-known group you could use that 200mm 4.0 from the crowd. I ahd my digital rebel up the glenmalure valley this weekend camping. I got soaked, but the camera survived pretty well. You could get seriously cheap and use a plasic bag and some well placed elastic bands.

Yeah it's a big thing altohugh not sure if I can say hear you know? Anyway I'm wondering about security, if they do take a disliking to me what's the worst they can do? Make me erase em etc. I don't mind getting thrown out long as i get the shots you know

Probably best to not mnetion those who cannot be mentioned. At the end of the day, you could just be tossed out. It'd be awful if they tried to snare your camera, but they'd have to be seriously ebnt to do that.

Yeah, I'd be curious about the legalities of that also

Personally, I'd just go and have a good time really...

If you can't get a press pass, there's too many things that can go wrong. Plus you can't really 'use' the photos for anything other than experience - Copyright laws and whatnot.

Some places won't allow you in when it's obvious you're carrying a camera. Many tickets state that photography is not allowed.

Of course, it depends on the day and the security guards.
