Well there are books that list haunted places but tbh they all name the same places and most of the authors haven't even visited half of the sites.

Dublin doesnt really have many haunted sites that you can visit but then again puyblic buildings dont even being to touch on the ammount of hauntings in Dublin. So many people have activity going on in their own houses but of course you cant pop in and say "show us your ghost".

A good place to start for Dublin might be to go on one of the tours - either the Ghost bus or the Zozimos tour.

Both do the main haunted spots within the city and are a good night out!

Yeah I'd recommend the Zozimus tour. Good call LB

The Ghost bus or the Zozimos tour sound pretty exciting but are the places they take you to really haunted or are they just some supposedly haunted, myths, urban legends or stuff like that. Like why would ghosts take refuge in places that are visited by loads of humans everyday?!

I'm sorta looking for some really seriously haunted places... Not just some abandoned castles full of myths n urban legends but no real ghosts...

They are a great bit of craic but as you guess they are filled with myth history and the same urban legends you'll hear on a tour in many major cities.

Why would they need to take refuge? I've experienced "ghosts" on O'Connell St.

There aren't really any seriously haunted places that you are guaranteed an experience. Its not about where you look its about how you look.

Exactly 6th, it's not the size of your boat that counts, it's your motion in the ocean.
Anyway I guess if there a 100% chance of seeing something, we'd all be there.
As noted above there are loads of books.
I have one that followed a guy called Hans Holzer in the 1960's
Anyway he mentions a house in 118 Summerhill in Dublin,
*"Crowds used to gather and wait for the ghost to appear at midnight" to see a ghost in the window.

*(Holzer H; 1967; The Lively Ghosts of Ireland; Wings Books; New Jersey; Pg 108.)

However, that said, same house has since been through the process of demolition, coincidently number 117 was also haunted and is also gone, but this was the location of the original haunting and was knocked down before hand, and the haunting transferred to 118 (the same family owned about 3 houses there.)

So I think it would be a good Idea to check the location out some time, since the haunting is reported to move from building to building.

I get what you're after OP, my suggestion is that the tours are a decent enough 'entry' into the topic but hey just a suggestion.

There's a new book out - I think by a guy called Paul Fennell about hauntings in Ireland - haven't read it but it does have haunted sites all over Ireland listed

me and 3 pals are joining a ghosthunt at charleville forest castle . i have booked tickets on www.haunted.ie .has anone else been to this location ? and if so, did you see anything camera worthy? im an amateur photographer, and im hoping to get some good shots. or any other good locations, im willing to travel to indulge my snapping hobby!!:)
I'd be interested to know how you get on.

A bunch of us on the forum here have done... I think... 3 trips to Charleville Castle.

6th got a particularly good shot of a shadowy figure on the staircase where the little girl is supposed to have died.

But it's certainly a great location for photos... the boards.ie photography forum even went on a trip up there in the past.

You'll see a bunch of our Charleville photos and photos from other investigations on the flickr page:

I must try dig out a link to the Photography Forum trip because those guys really did the place justice.

Sounds good... I might check out the places sometime.. and i'ld also check out the tours.

And i've gotta say, thats quite an impressive pic there 6th!!

Anyway, i made this thread sorta aiming for people to put down places they know or think are haunted. Just sorta a way to get a descent list of all the known and not very known haunted places in Ireland at once place.

They haven't done a tour in ages and their last few were all cancelled. Also they have arranged tours in the past, put dates on on the site and the castles knew nothing about it.
