This was a key hand in my tournament effort on Sunday. I had just moved tables and i had sat through a round of blinds, so any information on other players is minimal.

    No Limit - Level V (200/400) - 2007/06/24 - 17:59:21 (ET)

    UTG: post-rut (5653 in chips)
    UTG+1: alex987 (13755 in chips)
    EP: Mil1965 (9112 in chips)
    MP: wnchou (24900 in chips)
    LP: JOEYTHEB (15775 in chips)
    CO: RIVERPIG99 (15180 in chips)
    Button: frank2109 (14650 in chips)
Small Blind: EC10 (9450 in chips)
Big Blind: Recon20k (11685 in chips)

    EC10: posts small blind 200
    Recon20k: posts big blind 400

    Holecards:
    Dealt to Recon20k [Qh Qd]

    RAISE frank2109, 800 to 1200
    FOLD EC10

    RAISE Recon20k, 2000 to 3200
    RAISE frank2109, 9200 to 12400

    Recon20k??

I'm looking for some opinions as to whether:

    1. You like the reraise preflop, or would you play a flop?
    2. When reraised, what are your thoughts on calling/folding?

i'd be trying to get all in
you played it fine, presuming you called the push

I certainly wouldn't consider folding. I'd play it the same. 3rd best possible starting hand to a button raise - seems like a no brainer to me. I wouldn't see a flop and let his very possible AJ,A10,AK or AQ out flop me

I've seen him a few times and know he's pretty decent & will try build a stack early. Its still pretty early so seem's a good time to go with QQ and try double up if he has AA or KK so be it but I think he's doing this with more than that.

Yup, I jammed it predictably enough. He had KK and no miracle on the river for me :-(
I thought maybe i should be able to get away from it, but obviously not.

Maybe you can fold here and just work on picking up easy pots as you have a decent enough stack but I think he's doing this with more than just AA & KK.

The 3rd bet is usually a monster at this stage. The best your hoping for is AK. I think I could find a fold here

under different circumstances (not folded around to the button and not my bb) i could find a fold, but in this scenario le sherbet is to be shipped.

Im pretty sure id be shipping it here myself but lets think about it for a sec.

His 4 bet shove narrows his range significantly imo. This is a 1k tourney not a $20 rebuy.

Surely JJ+ AQ+ is a generous range for villian in this spot. Typically I would have it as QQ+ AK but would be willing to widen it due to the button/BB dynamic.

I dont think folding here is bad.

If he is a good player it actually widens his 4 betting range.

:D After the hand we played in Drogheda I actually find it quite ironic that you have pointed this out to me. But yes you are 100% correct it does widen his range if he is a god player. Unfortunately on this occasion we dont know wether or not he is a good player and i suppose this only serves to muddy the waters even further.

Jeez Noel, you'll have to buy a bigger cap. :)

Wow at anyone thinking this is even close to being a fold. This is a dream spot vs a button raise. Very very easy call.

Why? Are you ever correct to lay down QQ pre-flop to a 4bet?

Not button on blind or when you're sitting on less than 30 big blinds
