cheers guys, additionally does anyone here develop their own B&W ?

Where could I get the chemicals ? I figure it would be cheaper to process my own film, scan it and then get that printed for like 15c in a shop..

All the B&W on my flickr stream is DIY developed. Simple to do. B&W is pretty forgiving. All you need is a dev tank (20 euros for a cheapo plastic one from camera exhange georges st), developer ( I use Ilfosol S, 4:95 for small bottle of concentrate), Fixer (forget the price), and a dark place to put the film onto the reel. Scanning is another story altogether, but B&W negative is considerably easier to scan than colour, no chance of color casts for a start :-) I've shot a roll of film, developed, dryed it, and had it scanned and shots up on flickr all in the space of 3 hours or so, and 2 hours of THAT was the drying time !

yeah its just the chemicals that are the problem, what Im asking is where can I get my mitts on dev and fix. I know you dont need stop per se but it woudl be nice. :D

Same place, Camera exchange georges st have a big shelf of them down near the back of the shop. Quite a few different types of developer. I prefer Ilfosol because its fairly benign chemically, no hydroquinine in it. They have fix, stop, and rinse aids there aswell. I never bothered using stop, I just rinse well and then fix. I used to not bother with wetting agent until I screwed up the drying of one or two rolls and got some of that Ilford wetting agent. Forget what its called.

Stop solution is just vinegar. 1:10, flush it in, flush it out, you can give it one bath with watter and then stabilize.
I did many times, however I had problems with scanning. That's why I am using C-41 monochromatic films. Kodak BW400CN from 7dayshop.

aye acetic acid (u can use citric too i think) so I guess you're right vinegar !

Lol must get the bus up and get them or ring them and see. I assume they stock some b&w films too ?

I got my stuff today. cost about 55 yoyo for the lot. (tank, dev, fix, grad cylinder).

The only major thing I noticed was that for film gunnes was cheaper a than exchange !!

After I creatively waste the film I'll dev it and up photos :D

And think about buying roll of film, it's deadly cheap. I was buying 35 mteres and 50 meters and price per roll was about 25% of price rolled by company. Think about it. And you can wind it on your own even in the safety dark bag (or how is the thing called). I did it in my toillet - the darkest room in my previous house :-)

Enjoy ! Be sure to post the results. What developer did you get ? Ilfosol ? I just shot off a roll of delta 400 at 3200 so I have to get in tomorrow and pick up some DD-x or something similar. I suspect ilfosol just won't do the job on film that has to be pushed 3 stops...
