Help, need laptop!!!

hi, im looking to buy a laptop for myself. it will be used mostly at home for internet and multimedia use. however i will also use it for work. i will have about 7-800 to spend EXCLUDING vat. all help greatly appreciated

id prefer not to get apple. im not sure what i need exactly so all help will be appreciated.

its going to be for home use and work, so will need it to be able to connect to network etc

What kind of work? For example, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, or something that needs more processing power?

but also maybve for autocad and also maybe for the software program we use. will need to be able to connet to network to.

Network connectivity is not an issue - all laptops come with both wired and wireless network cards.

As for the other software, the first thing you need to do is find out what the requirements are of the software - i.e. does Autocad need a decent 3-D graphics card?

Sounds like you are looking for a dual core machine, probably with a 17 inch screen and 2 gigs of RAM. It all depends on what Autocad needs.
