Where are all the complaints about the pitch invasion after the Limerick vs Tipp game.

I bet if that happen in a Dublin game people would be screaming from the highest tree but not a whisper from anyone.

There were still 30 seconds left to play?

So its ok to invade the pitch when there is 30 seconds left is what you are saying??

No. I misread your post. I thought you were asking why people were complaining about the pitch invasion.

But now I see it's just an attempt to stoke up another 'Rest of the country v. the Dubs' so I'll leave you to it.

You just said what exactly what us Dubs wanted to hear. If it doesn't involve Dublin we wont complain.

    Thank you

I thought the crowd were coming on to celebrate with the referee who was secretly wearing a Limerick jersey under his black one.
Quite literally he robbed Tipperary, denying them two of the most blatant frees you will ever see in the last few minutes.
As a neutral myself I thought he allowed Limerick to get away with murder .His whistle must have been broken.

In fairness, Tipperary got one of their goals while a Limerick man lay on the ground injured and the referee wouldn't stop play. He did it again and once he noticed the stretcher on the pitch he stopped play. When there is a man down, and badly injured, referees should stop play. I know it slows the game down, but fair is fair.

The refering of the match was ridulous.
Play restarted while medical crew and an injured player still on pitch, the strecher was brought on early so the fact he didnt see it early is no excuse. Add the extra time, the slowing of game down is not more important than the players welfare

And some of the stewards were first on the pitch in the pitch invasion

I thought the ref was pretty poor. He did give a lot to Limerick IMO but as was said for before one of the Tipp goals there was a man down.

I'm neutral so don't really care anyway and I wanted to see Limerick win. I think if they lost this they'd do feck all in the Championship and now we have a Limerick Waterford Munster Final. When was the last time that happened?

Tipp will coast through the Qualifiers now as long as they don't implode. Which is possible.

By the way no-one (well no fan anyway) would ever begrudge a pitch invasion for any team that wins there first Championship match in 6 years after a three game epic against one of the giants (even if they may be dozing) of hurling

Well in the first half the ref made some terrible decisions against Limerick, the incident already mentioned, the Foley foul, which allowed an unmarked Egan to score the goal and a number of others. In the second half I have to agree that the ref made some terrible decisions against Tipp. However I think it was more incompetence rather than bias. The ref was clearly over weight and unfit and could not keep up with the play. How he was given the game ,I don't understand

The ref was quite useless, people are right. It didn't affect the outcome of the game though. Thought Limerick were by far the better team. If they hadn't missed so many easy chances, and gifted 2 soft goals they would have won by a mile.
As for the invasion, great scenes. When do you see so much excitement after the first round of a championship game? The Limerick-Tipp trilogy is just the kick start the hurling championship needed to raise its profile.

Now after our first win in the munster championship for 6 years, can we go on and win a second one? Looking forward to the final. C'mon Limerick!!!!

I was glad to see Limerick win but if I was a tipp supporter I'd be livid! The ball was hit down to the tipp full forward line as the invasion swarmed the pitch. As we saw, tipp were well capabable of scoring goals so it really ruined their chances and could have impacted the result.

On another note, do people think its time to bring in a way to decide a match after the first replay. Penalties? Golden point?

from a neutral point of view I cant believe the ref didn’t give Tipp one of the two obvious frees in the last minute of extra time, it would have been a fairly simple one, give the free stall a few moments before the free was taken , take a point , let play continue as long as possible and blow a draw.

At least they got off the pitch again, unlike supporters from a certain midlands county that shall remain nameless.:p

Thank you and so very true!

And to say there were only two frees aswell...thats an understatement. There was 3 in one incident, another 1 or 2 a minute(the Lar Corbett trip). This is the one that annoys me. The ref signalled for a Tipp free at this moment, but the Limerick defence just played on. Then the ref just dropped his hand...outrageous.

Then lets get to the other end of the pitch. Woodlock, just after catching the sliotar, was swung around by the helmet. He quite literally left the ground. Nothing given. He then left the ball go, as your supposed to do. The Limerick player picked the sliotar clean up in his hand, no stick used. So theres 2.

In the second half of normal time, Woodlock and Egan I think we're going towards the sliotar, along with two Limerick players. Woodlock does a lovely cheeky flick of the sliotar over everyone. Begley I think then jumps in front of him, flattens him...nothing given.

Plus the ref was well off the pace so much. He was very overweight if the truth be told.

But in saying all that, Tipp were in all honesty woeful. Posters should be up looking for a new half forward line. Carrol couldnt catch a ball, Egan was just awful, Dunne, well it just wasnt one of his better days. Eoin Kelly missed some hideous free's..my god, Willie Ryan should have been taking them...just like the first game. So in that way I dont begrudge Limerick victory at all, much better team on the day.

As for the pitch invasion, well everyone thought the way Limerick celebrated that point(that came after the aforementioned Corbett trip), that the match was over. Which leads to another hideous ref decision. He saw Tipp had the sliotar. What does he do when everyones gone off the pitch? Throw-in on the Tipp 21, despite Fitzer having the sliotar up beyond the 45 a the time. It gave Limerick an unfair chance(through no fault of their own) to get the sliotar and score again(which they duly did).

I think the Ref was rough on Limerick in the first half but after that favoured us quite noticeably.

Still though, Tipp were pretty uncreative and needed Limerick fouls to score. If Tipp's defence wasn't so good it could have been worse. That being said, Limerick were wasteful with the ball and if they'd lost it wouldn't have been undeserved.

i'd love to see penalties myself, don't think the GAA would ever go for it though coz it's done in soccer. what might also be good is if each team had to take 5 x 65's each? silver point would be another way of settling a game.

Id like to see something like what the Italians had for Penalties for a while but slightly different. Maybe have 8 one on ones using the the full back and forward lines against eachother and the half back and forwards and then finally the midfielders against eachother. Basically each player against their marker. No keepers also but the player in possession cant shoot until inside the parallelogram or something. Would be good i think. With the nature of GAA i dont think silver point would work, particularly in hurling as they are too common.

EDIT: Think i should clarify it a bit further actually on reading it back.

Something like the attacking player starts at midfield and the defending player starts 13 metres in front of him or something. Attacking player has to work the ball into the parallelogram and either go for point or goal (or only goals counting may be better). As soon as the defending player gets full control of the ball or sends it back past half way, he wins and no score is made.

..the Dublin fans would have probably invaded the pitch fifteen minutes late.

was at the match. thought it was bad form invading pitch before ref blew it up, even though limerick prob had it won. guess limerick fans got a bit carried away with winning after 6 years. To be fair it looked like a group of 10 years olds ran on first and started it.

Also thought there was a bit too much booing by limerick fans at tipp. Booing is something i really don't want to see coming into gaa more. i have images man u and liverpool fans booing opposite team ever time tell have the ball!!

The Cancer of the soccer type booing is slowly spreading into our game. Dublin get away with it, with the pundits once again glossing over them by saying stuff like "The spirited Dublin fans are making the free taker welcome". Other fans who follow suit are equally as bad.

lol golden point would be FANTASTIC, expecially for hurling. Players would be belting the sliotar towards the goal every time they got it!
