Munster Hurling Final, Waterford v. Limerick

After the epics against Tipp, will Limerick have anything left to offer against a Waterford team that looks destined to be All-Ireland champions in September? Personally I think Waterford will win it out easily enough but I hope Limerick at least stay close to them.

The Limerick team showed a lot of bravery in the 3 games but they've been criminal with the amount of wides they've had. If they are to stand any chance they need to be smarter when taking their points. This wasn't a classic Tipperary team, it's too soon to say if Limerick have turned the corner on the bad days.

Waterford have beaten Kilkenny in the League, and Cork in the MHC, i can't see Limerick stopping thier run, but howandever, C'Mon Limerick.

    Optimistic thinking.
A full strength Cork and Kilkenny can beat them .

Sure both Cork and Kilkenny can beat them, but Waterford have shown over the past few seasons they can live with Cork, it's the fact they beat Kilkenny that impresses me.

Waterford have beaten Cork 3 times this Season and Kilkenny in a Competitive Final , I do like to see Limerick coming back into the game from a drought in munster since 2001 , But if u were to look at the game from a Waterford point i would struggle to see where limerick could hold Waterfords Forward Line and Keep Eoin Kelly Quiet as the seem to give away alot of silly frees, Ken Mc Grath has full control from Centre back and would get into any team in the country , I think Limerick will come out of the blocks Fast in the Game but i do see Waterford Winning this contest by 6-8 points in the end which is alot in a Munster Final , I have Watched this Waterford Team Progress and really do think that they will make this Years All Irelaland Final ...After that its up in the air

I have no Doubt that it will be Killkenny in the Final as there route seems easy every year , Wexford not up to Kilkenny at all and offaly need youth to come to the front in the next few years ..

Hurling in Waterford means so much to its Fans down this part and we have been knockin on the door for so many years now but fallen at the final hurdle but this year the team is fitter than i have ever seen , Paul Flynn looks 100% where before he was only about 60% he is trim and fit as a fiddle ..

    Roll on july 8th

    Waterfords Munster Championship 2007

Same as a Full strength Waterford Team can beat both Kilkenny and Cork , Kilkenny were not far off full strength for the League final and Waterford won this Twice beat Cork in the league and Waterford can only beat what is put in front , I do admit Cork With Sean Og and O Sullivan are well balanced and Waterford would not have been given so many chances in front of goal but they still did and took them when they arose

Limerick have shown great determination and "will to win" in over-coming Tipperary, but tbh, Tipp like many other teams are only average. The big 3 of Waterford, KK and Cork are still ahead of all the rest IMO.

If Limeick shot 15 wides against Waterford, they wouldn't have a hope in hell of winning. Today Tipp over-relyed on Eoin Kelly who single handidly kept them in the game. If it wasn't for him, Tipp would have been beaten out the gate.

Limerick have shown a lot of character over the last few weeks. In other years they would have probably imploded (remember last year against Clare in the qualifiers) but they have kept their heads better this year - which at least is a huge step in the right direction.

Waterford dont just rely on one forward - they have 6 forwards who can now win them the game. With a fully fit flynn at the edge of the square, they could have found the final piece to the jigsaw. As well as discovering some young talent in Kearney and Molumphy, they are a lot more balanced unit than Limerick. I'm not trying to run Limerick down, but they seem to play a very strange brand of hurling - I guess its from a lack of experience of winning big game. On a number of occasions today, their fowards took crazy shots from impossible angles which were never going to go over.

Waterford are favourites, and rightly so. Limerick will put it up to them, but on current form I'd think Waterford will win it by 4 or more points

The point I was trying to make was that the OP said that Waterford were 'destined' to be champions.
They havent won an All Ireland in half a century.
They were only a crossbar away from losing to Cork last weekend.
Its very tight and it all comes down to who plays better on an individual day.
I would like to see Waterford win an All Ireland ,it would be good for the game .

cross bars and last few seconds will always come into waterford and Cork .. By far the 2 best teams in Munster and have no doubt i think to win the All Ireland u prob have to beat Cork twice if from munster and thats a tough feat ... Cork and Waterford is just a superb occassion , never any bad blood but pure passion and hurlin the way it should be always last years semi when Ken hit the crossbar was devastatiing in the last second but thats the game and thats what we pay to see ...

I agree that i would love ti see Waterford win this year For the game and County its been too long now since an All Ireland ...Sweet jesus the City will shut down if it happens prob for a month ... But still they have a job to do and aint anywhere near it yet .... Limerick first and then take it from there

Best of luck Waterford ..Bring it home its been too long ......
On another note its great to see a diff MSHC Final Limerick vs Waterford ..Limerick have always been a bogey side for us but i do see too much in Waterfords Team for Limerick to even go close if they perform at 100%

    .

If that shot had gone under the bar the scores would have been level and the game would have been a draw.

Waterford are the form team coming into the final, no doubt about that. Beating Kilkenny in the League final, and then knocking out Cork is impressive form.
I think Limerick have come on a lot in the 3 games against Tipp too. Tight games of that intensity can only be good for them.

Waterford are quite rightly favourites for the final. They would seem to have an edge with their 6 forwards. Some of Limericks forwards are a bit erratic with their shooting. Both teams will be hungry for the big one. My heart says Limerick, my head says Waterford. I do think it'll be close. Probably not more than 3 points difference.

While Waterford are definitely favourites, sometimes a team builds up a momentum and Limerick seem to have that about them this year. It will be interesting and I don't believe Waterford will be that clear cut winners.

Just for the record, the last Waterford Limerick Munster Final was 1934!!

Waterford should and probably will win, but by no means will it be a walkover. Waterford have 1 Championship match under their belts, Limerick 3, all in the past 3 weeks! But I think we just need to avoid any injuries in the run up to the match and play with the same skill and intensity as we always seem to do against Cork. Limerick I can see hanging in there for 50 or 60 mins, but Waterford should pull away and win by 5 or 6

They may have 3 games behind them but be honest Tipp are no way near the side they were and have problems within the camp and it is eveident on the Field , Waterford are training harder than any previous campaign and notice the difference when we Beat cork in the Semi , A year Previous the players would be running around as if it was an all ireland Final win Now they are more conmposed they have tasted Victory in the league Final this year and to beat Kilkenny any time is tough , I still think Tipp were a better side and a few harsh decisions went against them yesterday , Not taking away anything from Limerick they had a job to do and did it , But Waterford will punish Limerick if they slip up at all , They were shooting from anywhere and had some dreadful misses , The Keeper looks shakey and with Waterford now with 6 decent Forwards all able to finish and Freetaking by Eoin Kelly as good as any in the country on his day . I will be putting a large amount on Waterford to be Munster Champions for 2007 ........

Thurles is as good as a home tie for us these days ... But amazingly we have fallen at each hurldle to even reach the Final since 1963 our last appearance in An All Ireland Final correct me if i am wrong , This is too long for a team of this callabure .. They have it all if the backline can perform , Please God they will get us a step closer this year and give us a final to support them ..... Roll on Thurles in 2 weeks .. Win This and no matter what i still feel we have a huge chance of taking it this year Bring on The CATS IN THE FINAL I SAY ...
