to ugg or not to ugg?

I'm just wondering, what's the general opinion on uggs? I gave them up a year or two ago, but last winter I had wet and cold feet. So, should I go back to the uggs? I KIND of like them...plus, it's not like I'll be the only "fashion offender"...I'm the only one of my d4 friends not wearing uggs. So, should I go back to them?!

Love the way you talk about them like they are a drug.

As Karl said if you like them don't let anyone persuade you otherwise.

In my opinion I wouldn't buy something just because i'm the only one of my friends not wearing a certain item of clothing.

Be individual and if you're friends don't like that, bitch slap them I'd say :p .

I would have thought you'd be mortally opposed to the things.

Personally, I can't stand them. There are few less attractive things a girl can wear.

I think the clue is in the name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,734 ✭✭✭Newaglish

I dunno, they're about as attractive as wellies on a girl. I actually love how people freak out about skobies going to the spar in their PJ's, but this to me is the same thing...

Having said that, given that your username is "misssouthside" and all your "d4 friends" are wearing these things, nobody would bat an eyelid if you were wearing them. Face in a crowd and all that.

Funny, I hardly ever see people wearing uggs in D4 - it's around Grafton Street, Dundrum, Stillorgan etc that you see them en masse (wannabes :p)! Maybe I just live in the wrong part of D4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,734 ✭✭✭Newaglish

I suspect her "d4 friends" are by and large, not entirely living within the boundaries of the Dublin 4 postcode.

In fact, the none of the D4 types I know are ACTUALLY from Dublin 4. Funny that.

Slight back on topic - Uggs = bad.

I think we may be dealing with D4 as a state of mind rather than a strict postcode location... :D

    Ditto.

But personally, I don't think anyone should ask anyone else what they can and can't wear

If you're going to wear them, please walk properly :P I really hate seeing girls walking around with one side of the boot crushed in by their heel.. it looks awful.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭misssouthside

Er, I hate that too. Don't worry, IF I get them, I'm not going to walk on the sides.

they are tasteless tacky items of foot wear in my opinion. Don't like the type of girl who wears them either

[brush] they usually love roxy and other cool brands of clothing and their dream car is a new VW beatle (shudders) [/brush]

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭misssouthside

    Heh hem.
What's wrong with Roxy? And, FYI, my dream car isn't the car you mentioned. It's an eco-friendly car that runs on renweable fuels.
And, as for "not liking the type of girl who wears them"...
    Heh hem.

Saw the guitarist from the thrills wandering around in them. And Colin Farrell's gay brother. Men in uggs is bad karma.

And that has anything to do with me buying uggs...how?

Don't mind him. He probably went to a horrid community school or something so he can't understand the uniqueness of your dilemma.

I think you should wear them if you wish, basically. Don't mind your friends.

OK. That's the problem...I'm confused! I think I'll just buy them, and wear them when I want to wear them...
DESPITE all the comments about me being a d4, and a slave to exploitative companies, and people calling me a retarded idiot...

It's just a little bit on the silly side. If you like them, wear them.

You shouldn't need to come online and ask people if you like them.

Yes, well, I'm confused. I mean, why are Uggs so different to all the other types of clothes? And the point of this thread was that I DIDN'T know if I liked them. And I still don't know.
And it's turned into this whole thing about how terrible d4s are.
    Isn't that a bit silly?

why are Uggs so different to all the other types of clothes

Look, they might be as comfortable as heck but they're also as ugly as hell. I'm pretty sure everyone is in agreement on that fact.

The only reason you'd want to wear them is to pretend you're some sort of "D4 girl", and thus this thread can only go one way; a shameless tirade of abuse towards D4 wannabes.

As a slight aside re: your blog - 12 year olds shouldn't be wearing fake tan.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,643 ✭✭✭magpie

It takes one to know one - congrats to misssouthside for some quality trolling.

I suspect he's actually an 18 stone male Northsider trying to destabilise the Southside 'regime' by f**king with our perceptions of ugg wearers.

EDIT/ and that blog is pure 'Roisin Bungle' material

OK, first of all I'm not a "D4 wannabe". I don't need to pretend. Yes, sure, they're ugly, but LOTS of clothing is ugly.
And, er, if I wear fake tan, that's none of your business. And I'm not 12.

Yesterday was fairly hilarious. My mother has decided she wants to "get fit", but doesn't have "enough time" (FA-IRLY debateable) to go to the gym. So, yesterday, we had to go over to the northside to look at gym equipment in Arnotts. It was pretty hilarious, we'd crossed the Liffey and after ONE minute, my mother was lost.
    Oh, she's such a southsider. :)
Since my last school was Rock, it makes sense to do Sion Hill next...after all, the two schools are smack bang beside each other.
Connections: Er, sorry, wrong school, I'm afraid you're not going to make many connections here. Oh, sure, there are a few girls with semi-important parents. But I have a feeling they want to get out of there ASAP. Most likely, you'll make connections with a future checkout girl at Tesco...
How they do in school: Yowch! Where passing an exam is considered a major achievement, what do you expect? There are a few extremely smart girls, but, well, most of them do not do well.
Snobbiness: Zilch. How could they get snobby when hardly any of them go to college? When the school is (according to one Sion Hill girl I know) "full of knackers".
BIG or small: Very, very small. Like tiny.
Prettiness factor: Some of the girls there are gorgeous. But others....Well, look like they stuff themselves with crisps and chocolate. But overall, the girls are pretty much pretty.
Knacker factor: Go read the snobbines one. A few d4s go there, but it's mainly knackers.

Ross O'Carroll Kelly has already done this to death, come up with something more original.

Some of the reactions on this thread are unfair. This is an open forum, aslong as Misssouthside isn't breaking the rules in anyway (being young and from d4 isn't) then she's allowed start a topic of her choice. If you don't like the topic, don't reply..

I don't like the image projected by goths, the clothes, attitude, music etc but if one posted here asking if she should wear black nail varnish with her black and white stripey socks, i wouldn't abuse her.

Don't be such ****ing idiots, bullying someone (Espcially a 13 year old girl) for any reason is wrong.

I think Rosin Bungle was a blog take off of Rosin Ingle, the Irish Times columnist.

Thank you. Magpie, I'd appreciate if you'd STOP saying I'm a badly sterotyped troll. If you think that's true, fine, but stop spreading it...it's not true. Personally, I think if you've got nothing better to do then say mean stuff to me, you're very sick. I'm 100% real, and all this stuff calling me a retarded idiot etc. really does hurt my feelings. OK, maybe YOU think it's silly and trivial. But so what? And, if you're calling me a loser, I'd much rather be a loser for not being able to decide on some boots, then be a loser bullying some girl on the internet.

Okay, thread locked as there's way too much crap here to wade through and threads on Ugg never amount to anything constructive anyway.

What boffin said. Look at the name of the forum. Threads posted here, will by the very nature of the forum, be "shallow". If you don't like it, then go elsewhere.
