Anyone played here, if so what did you think.

I played the front 9 this morning. Basic enough course in decent condition. The constant rain made me curtail my game early but I did enjoy the 9 holes.

Membership is €895 and for that I would consider its not bad value. Club is GUI affiliated, Has decent practice facilities and will have full Bar licence in the very near future.

    Any thoughts.....

Yep, played it a couple of times over the past few years. Always seemed to be in good nick. There is a bit more variety on the back nine if memory serves. Always very friendly. I'd consider joining but it's just that bit too far from Lucan for me to get value from it.

I'm a member there, and can confirm it's well kept. Changes being made which will make some holes harder.
Not much sand, but plenty of trouble if you know where to find it. I do!
I have no hesitation in recommending it to the average golfer.

900 euros. Am I correct in saying that its a Pay and Play course also??

I played it once and it was grand but 900 euros seem a bit steep if you ask me

Hey there. Played the Glebe on a few occasions. A good course that seems to be improving all the time and always in good nick. I'm considering joining. There is no joining fee so 895 per year seems good value to me.

haven't played there in a while now, but its a nice course, back nine tougher than the front nine though.

Though that par five i think it is where if you go forthe green in two you can end up in the ditch in front of teh green, and the green slopes back toward it too.

I went up and played it there about a month ago. Was nice and quiet for a Saturday morning and i quite enjoyed it. Reasonable at 25 quid too.

Fairly simple at the moment but i think if you head back in ten years or so it could be a very nice little course. It has plenty of potential. The last par 5 on the front nine that sofireland mentions (the 8th hole i think) is a great hole. There's a longish par three on the back nine too (14th??) which is a good hole. About a 4 or 5 iron between two big trees uphill to a sloping green.

There's one with a severe dogleg on it that caught me out though (11th or 12th??). Its at a right angle and its only about a 7 or 8 iron off the tee and then you're left with about 150 yards in. Not sure if local knowledge allows you to go over the top of trees.

Only negatives for me were that the holes didn't look like they had been moved in at least a week. Edges were overgrown and the holes tiny. The areas round about the holes were quite worn too. It had been raining a lot though so maybe that was the reason.

I took the driver over the trees and I know the next time that you can cut even more off by choosing the correct line. As you said good potential. What I do like is that the greenskeeping staff were out each time tending to the course so they do try to look after it. Given the bad weather I think it looks great.
