Live Drum Looper thingy

hi all my drummer wants to get some gadget that he can do live loops with So he mics up his hats for example, plays a few bits and triggers the gadget which then continue to loop the bits he played almost like a boss DD3 would for guitar but with many layers available any advice on what to get or where to start rgds 4
