    Hi,

i'm trying to set up the wireless connection between this router and my Macbook Pro.

I have enabled wireless N on the MBP but i still can't seem to connect. My it support in work say that they cannot get it to work on a Mac but that they have limited experience of Mac's, and don't support them.

I can change the broadcast channel on the router so the Mac can see it but i can't seem to connect.

I am using WEP encryption but have turned off Mac filtering until i get this to work. I have used a linksys router in my brothers before with no problems but its an older "G"model. Is there some difference with the wireless N system that i can't seem to get it to work. I thought once the MBP can see the network it should be able to access it?

Has anyone else ever had an issue when connecting their Mac to a Linksys router?

I had a problem connecting my MacBook to a US Robotics router until I ran Software Update. There was an Airport-related bugfix there. Are you fully up-to-date on your MacBook Pro?

Failing that, I'd start by disabling all security on the router. See if your laptop will connect to it then. If that works, enable WPA encryption and try and connect. If your router doesn't support WPA, get a new router. You might as well leave encryption off entirely as use WEP.

I doubt if the problem is with the 'n' standard more likely a security problem. To confirm this just disable all encryption, i.e. WEP, WPA etc on the access point/router. Now from the drop down Airport menu on the finder bar select your wireless network. The Mac will ask for the relevant WEP or WPA keyword or key if applicable, of course as you've disabled these it should connect straight away. If the the MBP connects then (set the networking to DHCP for now as well) you need to tinker with the WEP or WPA settings. Try that and come back to us.
