    Nasty....his grammer is horrible
"I seen the car go up. Then, like, the cable broke, I heard -- pwchh -- and I heard a lot of people screaming," Chris Stinnett, who was at a ride next to the Superman Tower of Power, told WDRB/WMYO.

"The cable went under the car -- and I seen it pull up and hit a lot of people -- and I seen them bring their legs up," Stinnett said

jaysus, the poor girl. That's unreal!

It's gonna cost that park a whole lot of dosh to compensate her and to implement a proper system for frequent safety checks on all of their rides.

A few years back I was in a haunted house ride in a park in Madrid.

You sat in this big long room with a table laid out for a wedding party... the lights go dim and the bride as a skeleton starts talking to you (it was all in Spanish, so I don't know what it was about) But the seats and the walls are hydraulic and start to shift in a peculiar way to give the impression that the whole room is getting taller...

A pretty cool effect but apparently about a year or so ago a person wasn't seated properly when the ride began and had their head severed.... Now this wouldn't have been quick... this thing moves very, very slowly. And everyone was looking on and screaming and of course the ride operators just thought everyone was enjoying the scary ride as you're supposed to be screaming.

Oh Sweet Mother of Christ

I was in Funderland the day a 12 year old girl died on the "Rollercoaster" if you could call it that (heap of sh1t) apparently she had a heart attack...

I also know a girl who had braids in her hair and she went to Funderland and got on the Roll Over.. its that one that looks like the waltzers but has little 2 person carriages which roll over repeatedly (hence the name) anyway her braids got caught in the overhead mechanics on one of the rolls.. Thankfully for her it was the last roll and she was left with her head stuck, luckily the operative spotted her and shut down the ride.. she had to have her braids cut out to free her but I don't think she really minded she was in so much shock...

Put you off going to fairgrounds really :o

Whoah...I'm confused. Up above, Petes has quoted a message which is down as being posted AFTER his/hers? Just had to say that!

Whoah, that'd seriously hurt like hell. Imagine standing in the queue for the next turn and a foot falls beside you?

Terrible for the girl but luckily for her, this happened in America so she'll get compensation

I'd say there's a line of ambulance chasing lawyers outside the hospital right now.

I don't know if you are referring to the same event as me, but a number of years ago my friend took his 13 year old sister to Funderland. She went on a ride where you are enclosed in a little pod that flies aound the place. Tragically, she began to vomit, choked, and died.

I would now never go on any ride where it's enclosed, because that could happen to anyone.

I went on a haunted house ride before in Spain, and nearly died when I realised how horrifically craptastic and piss kissed it was...

Heard a story about a free fall type ride in Korea...a girl on it got her hair caught in part of it when she was up the very top and the next thing it shot downwards and her face came off...or so the story goes anyways.

AAAARRGGHH, MENTAL IMAGE OF THAT HAPPENING TO ME!!!! I think she's in the Guinness Book Of Records for the 1st whole successful put-face-back-together thing from top surgeons. The pic showed her entire face and hair on a table and it looked just like a really, really good Halloween mask! Eurgh!!

Ha Ha, I just get this image of 2 people on the photo. One sitting one side enjoying themselves and the other has just a skull for a face. "Is he enjoying himself or is he in pain?"

Get on over here if you never wanna go near rides again:

she's going to save a fortune on shoes over the years

it's one of those things you'd probably laugh about when your older

wonder if the fairground are going to have to pay millions.. at the end of the day prices
will go up and the taxpayer will end up 'footing' the bill

What a horrible accident. Hopefully they can reattach her feet.
If they cant then she will probably get millions more in compensation.

Fairgrounds seem to be a dying breed, literally! I remember when the most dangerous thing about the visiting fair was the possibility of being kicked by the exotic animal ie: the donkey.

The maddest thing I saw recently was a ride on Brighton pier which whipped you into the air over the sea. The sign, contract, on this ride was that in high winds the management is not responsible for potential accidents and you ride at your own risk, due to I presume freak winds. I guess there is no fun in a fairground ride without the potential for getting your feet cut off, or drowing in choppy high sea winds. Go figure.

She'll be set for life. They'll reach some astronomical agreement before she sues. I work for a CBS station and there was all kinds of chatter about this today on the Wire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Deliverance

I think given the choice I would keep the feet attached at all times. Besides the defending lawyers could argue that she had her feet on the ground at the time of the accident.

When I got up there, the lady she was just sitting there, and she didn't have no legs.

Horrible to hear but (with the exception of Roundtower 2!) I'm surprised there haven't been puns about how she was legless.
