hi all, im looking to get a good tube amp with at least 30 watts (minor band stuff) and i think the best option right now is a classic 30. but can anyone recomend any good stores or online sites that sell them for a good price? so far the best i can get is 600 inc. shipping from www.gak.co.uk which is pretty good, but it would be even better if i could get it from an irish site or store. so, any ideas anyone?

or even better, does anyone know of any good second hand guitar and amp stores or sites in ireland? thanks for all replies btw, any advice is welcome :D

For an extra 15euro you can get it from thomann.de which is a reliable site, I'm sure many posters can tell you. I've never heard of the site you've mentioned but then again, I've never bought anything from either site.

There's always used Peavey classic's for sale.

Keep an eye on the usual places(here, buyandsell etc), and I doubt you'd have to wait more than a month or so to spot one.

www.gak.co.uk is a good site, and I've bought from them before. I'd actually recommend them above thomann.de.

But as Voodoo highlight, there are always Peavey Classics for sale. You'd be able to pick one up second hand no bother.

And don't be put off by the fact that there is a few around second hand, the classic 30 is a great amp.

Yep, it's a good simple old-fashioned amp, not a lot to go wrong with it, and quick and cheap to fix if it does.

Sorry for dragging this up from the depths. But did you get a classic?

I don't see these come up that often used. Where are you guys seeing them?

I picked one up recently - it was advertised on Gumtree.
I was keeping an eye out for amps on various sites for a good while though, so it does take a bit of patience. You can get RSS feeds for Gumtree & adverts.ie so that makes it easier to keep track of the new ads.

It's a lovely amp, definitely happy with the purchase.

    Out of interest how much?

€350, which seemed like a fair price to me.

It's one of the older models (without the grill to protect the tubes) , not sure how big a difference that makes. It's in perfect condition aside from occasional rattle in the tubes. By all accounts this is easily fixed by replacing the tubes, which I plan to do soon enough.

me too, because they sent me a Fender '72 Tele custom instead of a Dsl 401:p
