iMovie HDV capture problem

I have captured 3 tapes worth of HDV footage from a Sony camcorder (HDR-HC3) to my MacBook using iMovie. The last 2 scenes on each tape are slowed down to about 80% of their original speed for some reason. These scenes seem to capture fine at first, but when iMovie stops importing at the end of the tape the time of each clip changes (and stays that way) and they playback in slowmotion! These clips are fine when watching on the camcorder itself. To correct each clip I have to apply the speedup effect, but leave the slider in the centre (ie. no speedup) and they play fine.

Anyone know what might be happening? Its getting annoying!!
