Hairdresser or Stylist?

Hi, At the moment my hair is dark brown, however, my natural colour would be a light - medium brown. I would love to go a bit lighter, and brighter, for the summer, and I have picked out a colour I like, that I 'think' I might be able to get away with, as its only a couple of shades lighter then my natural colour....…

Hi,

At the moment my hair is dark brown, however, my natural colour would be a light - medium brown.

I would love to go a bit lighter, and brighter, for the summer, and I have picked out a colour I like, that I 'think' I might be able to get away with, as its only a couple of shades lighter then my natural colour.... however, I am absolutely terrified of putting my life in the hands of a hairdresser.

Its a long time since I had my hair professionally coloured, and I am just wondering, would it be OK to just take a sample of the shade I'd like, and go along to my local hairdressers, or would it be best to find a stylist, who can maybe suggest a better colour for me, etc?

Where would I even find such a person?
