Ok I'm kinda hoping this doesn't get me banned but here goes. I was visiting my dad's last night for the first time in a few months and they seemed to have gotten rid of their old Sky box but still had the dish installed. They had this new DVB decoder installed that could recieve *all* of the scrambled Sky stations like the movies and various channel, pretty much anything you'd get with a full sky package including channels we can't get here like S4C and the likes.

How the hell? I thought Sky Encryption hadn't been cracked yet? And no they're not using their card with another box because their subscription got cut off. Dad told me that they had paid a guy a once off of €200 to do it for them and they have it for life. Now I know this is completely illegal what I'm more interested in is... how?!

    I think you are mistaken.

Either they are stealing Cable TV or it is just the Free channels on Satellite. There are over 200 free channels on 28.2E alone.

Cable there are no free channels and connecting a box without UPC/Chorus/NTL permission to cable and/or getting channels you did not pay for is theft in Ireland.
