    Hi all,

Hope ye can help me before I buy something wrong :)

    I have the following;

    AMD PC3700+

Abit Fatality An9 Socket 939 (4 DIMM Slots)

    2x 512meg DDR TwinMOS Speed Premium PC3200 512MB CL2.5 Winbond CH-5, 32*8/16chip, 400mhz,
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=308281
(part number on them is M2G9516A-TT)

I would like to upgrade my system with another to 2gig and would like to buy another 2x 512 meg and want to ensure I get it right.
I cannot find any more of these chips around.
I need CL2.5 but dont know do I also specifically need Ch-5 chips and if so, does that chipset appear in other manufacturers modules which perhaps Komplett actually have in stock.

I did spot some CL2.5 on Komplett
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=118498
    and
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=301825

    but have my doubts.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    James.

The one for €127 is a 2GB pack consisting of 1GB modules if you buy that then you may as well just take out the 2x512MB as XP's sweet spot is 2GB anyway.

The 1GB pack will probably behave with the existing Twinmos in the system if you want to go the extra mile you can probably dig up the timings on Twinmos site as Komplett list the part number and compare the timings in your own system by using CPU-Z.

If the worst comes to the worst and it does not behave well you can always force the timings manually instead of relying on the SPD to automatically do it which can work in some situations.
