I think price and taste should be the main factors to consider because all the main whey supplements out there are more or less the same.

If only they did protein shake sampling in supermarkets...

So theres no real difference in quality of ingredients etc then?

I've heard otherwise tho - like, don't buy York supplements (from Argos) because they're rubbish, Maximuscle are overpriced and there's better stuff out there etc. Someone said Nutrition-X are good, another guy said Mass Attack are by far the best...

    It's all very confusing.

So ANY recommendations on which one?

    Cheers!

    Look for a powder that is;

    1) High in protein per serving- my preference a mix of concentrate and isolate

    2) Low in Carbs

    3) Low in Fat

    4) Tastes good

    5) Value for money

    Listed in proper order.

May I ask which one you use Jon, if any? Or if you'd recommend any particular brands?

Optimum Nutrition whey is the best I've used, and widely regarded as a top quality whey.

    Hope this helps.

Personally optimum nutrition gold standard whey is my favourite good value for money great taste full of amino's and 24g of protein per serving!!

Of all the whey on the Irish market Pro-X has the highest amount of protein per serving and tastes really good. With the recent hike in whey Pro-X is still selling at the same price which is always good.

    Savage stuff altogether.

But OP, when you start asking for stuff like Cyclone and protein with creatine you move away from the realms of true protein powders to all in one shakes.

If you're looking for a straight up protein powder then go with Big Whey or ProX, both by NutritionX.

Big Whey is concentrate, Pro X is Isolate.

The difference is minor so i always recommend the Big Whey.

It really doesnt matter in the scheme of things.First off you need to get your weights routine sorted out and your wholefood diet.Whey is only a supplement the same as creatine is and it wont work without hard work in the gym.

No diference, both are a combination of concentrate and isolate. One is a 4lb tub with 84g per 100 and the other 77g per 100 in a 6ib tub.

Cheers for advice. The Big Whey for e89 seems like the best value alright.

Anyone recommend RAM or other specifically 'recovery' drinks as well as a whey supplement? Is it really worth it buying both???
