Architect with Conservation Experience

    Hi all,

I have just bought a stone cottage in Leinster area which is listed as a protected structure. The cottage has not been inhabited for 10 years and is in need of attention inside and out.

I plan to build a modern extension to the rear of the cottage, so I'm trying to find an architect with experience in restoration as well as contemporary design and a good understanding of planning requirements. Googling words like 'architect' 'restoration' 'ireland' has led me to large firms who are not likely to be interested in such a small project (and probably beyond my budget).

Could anyone recommend an architect who might be interested in this?

Also if anyone has completed a similar project, maybe they could give me a ball park figure for architect's fee.

    Thanks
    C

hi, i just had a chat with the architect in our building and me recommended you employ a local guy from the area.

he also mentioned that there is a conservation panel that you should be able to get from the RIAI and to pick the guy closest to the site.

    hope this helps.
