NTL Signal Strength

I used to have all the Digital Channels from NTL (fully paid for) but over the last few days a few of them have dropped off! I contacted NTL and the support person asked me to check the signal strength by pressing Help and reading item 5. Currently it's 33.9. He says that this is too low and an engineer will have to make a visit.

The problem I have with all of this is that I got the house rewired and the box on the wall is no longer an NTL box but a 3rd party one. This was last year and the service was working fine until the last few days. I am wondering will NTL play the whole "Oh that's not our box you are on your own!" type of excuse? Don't think it's anything that I've done that's causing the fault, but rather something going on with NTL.

Also, could I ask someone with no problems to check their signal strength on their NTL box? If you press Help on your remote and read the number to the right of Item 5 on the list?

(BTW I assume this is in dB?)

    Thanks!

Thanks for that! Is it changing often, mine is pretty much sitting at the 33.9 steady.

I am in the Glasnevin area.

    Hi All,

It's a Pace box - quote large one about the size of a regular VCR.

However, all the channels are back and the signal strength is the same! Must have been a glitch on the NTL network. Sometimes I think I know more about the NTL network than NTL themselves!

    Thanks for your help!
