Buy camera on ebay

    I am buying a camera as a present for my girlfriend. She has chosen a Sony W55 & likes the black one. http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=146318

    However, this model is not available in Ireland & won't be in the near future. It is also proving difficult to get online. I had one ordered for dispatch on the 15th and it has now been pushed out to the 28th & I'm not too confident of getting it then either... None of the online shops I recognise have them in stock.

    I can get one on ebay & am not too concerned about fraud :( but am more worried about warranty. The seller states that they will replace FOC any returned camera, Is it worth going for? Is there any way to have the warranty looked after here?

    Dunno those guys ... but you'll get it far cheaper from Hong Kong ...

    try Digital-Rev or Hong Kong Supplies (bought form these guys recently) ...

    as for warranty ... not sure with Sony ... but you can get a Mack warranty from www.mackcam.com

    Digital-Rev have it, will order from them after some quick research. Can't find Hong Kong Supplies. Thanks for the responses...

    DigitalRev retail won't deliver to Ireland same as Amazon etc. something to do with the Eu directive on electrical stuff recycling
    but DigitalRev E-bay will deliver to you just factor in postage and maybe some VAT not too much and you'll probs get a good purchase

    bought a 24-70mm lens from HK supplies on ebay - very fast delivery (about 5 days) and paid E75 vat when it arrived.

    still saved over E500 from the price in Conns.

    i would recommend using the big HK retailers rather than people selling just one or two or with low sales.

    as with anything bought on ebay - buyer beware
