I've had this problem for a while and what I usually do is just restart my pc and then it will detect the blank CD but this is really starting to bother me now. Anyone got any ideas what I could do? Its an NEC DVD±RW burner 3450.

Check that you have the Autorun/Autoplay switched on in the properties for the drive.
