A few questions regarding a new diet

Hi,
I am a 22yr old 168lb male of the ectomorph body type. I have realized in recent times that I have not been eating enough (throughout my whole life) even though I thought I was. This gave me great hope as I am not particularily happy with the way I look in the mirror. I always put it down to genetics or something. Some of my uncles and stuff are similar body type and look like me so genetics may play a certain part in it. I have my suspicions though that they do not eat very well either.
I have decided to give it a go anyway for a month to start off with. I’m not going to pay for full gym membership or anything, I’ll just give it a whirl for the first month paying each time at the door. I have been reading an American book and I pulled the following diet from it. The one I am going to post here is for non-training days.
I have a few questions about it.
6 meals a day

First breakfast
2 Whole omega 3 eggs (137)
¼ cup mixed beans (52)
1 Cup of mixed veg (44)
25grms cashews (160)
2 fish oil capsules (18)
Total – 393

Second breakfast
400grms plain yogurt (249)
25grms almonds (161)
1 scoop of milk protein blend (106)
Total - 516

First lunch meal
200grms lean meat (raw weight) (155)
Large garden salad (65)
1 teaspoon flax oil (45)
1 teaspoon olive oil (45)
50grms cheese (126)
2 fish oil capsules (18)
Total – 454

Second lunch meal
200grms lean meat (155)
Large garden salad (65)
1 teaspoon flax oil (45)
1 teaspoon olive oil (45)
25grms Walnuts (176)
Total – 486

Dinner meal
200 grms lean meat (155)
Large garden salad (65)
1 serving fruit (93)
25grms Cashews (329)
2 fish oil capsules (18)
Total - 660

Pre-Bed meal
2 whole omega 3 eggs (137)
1 serving fruit
50grms cheese
Total – 338
Grand total calories – 2847

First of all can you get omega 3 eggs in tesco or dunnes?
In the book it says 2 whole eggs adds up to 137cals, What size are these eggs then?

The author says for the first breakfast I should eat a ¼ cup of mixed beans and 1 cup of mixed veg.
What kind of beans would he be referring to and what size is a cup?
When he says mixed veg does it just mean I should have some broccoli and carrots cooked from the night before?

Are fish oil capsules the same as cod liver oil as he says I should take four between first lunch and first breakfast?

He refers to 200grms of lean meat in the diet. I assume this is just turkey, chicken or tuna? What other kinds of lean meats is there to choose from? Seeing as I need to eat it three times a day I imagine I will not be long growing tired of it.

The author says to drink a teaspoon of olive oil. Can you really drink this stuff? I tasted it before and it was putrid. It took me ages to get the taste out of my mouth.

For the large garden salad that’s only 65cals! What should I have in this salad?

He says 1 cup of milk protein blend? Is this whey. If it is, I’ll get it.

Finally what kind of cheese should I buy?

Thanks.

Ok, I went shopping today and I could not find omega 3 eggs so I just got the normal ones.

I could not see any fish oil capsules so I just got cod liver oil. I got a bottle but the capsules carton says just one a day so I hope taking two to three spoons out a the bottle will be ok.

I just got normal cheddar cheese and im not going to get olive oil and drink it straight. Hopefully there is a different type I can get that someone will inform me of.

I also managed to get a tin of mixed beans.

you can get these from Super Quinn or M&S thats where i used to get therm from
In the book it says 2 whole eggs adds up to 137cals, What size are these eggs then?
im not sure on the size. a large egg has are 71cals so id say he would mean large - think super quinn does Supersize which is bigger again

The author says for the first breakfast I should eat a ¼ cup of mixed beans and 1 cup of mixed veg.
God help you ,veg for breakfast!! couldnt stomach that. Im not sure its either runner/string bean variety or butterbeans/bakebeans - try googling the guys name along with beans!

What kind of beans would he be referring to and what size is a cup?
A cup is 250mls, your better of to use a measuring jug
When he says mixed veg does it just mean I should have some broccoli and carrots cooked from the night before?
Mixed vege would just be like the frozen mixed veg packets, beans, carrots, broc, cauliflower - boiled anytime

Are fish oil capsules the same as cod liver oil as he says I should take four between first lunch and first breakfast?
No these a different, well they can be - you can get cod liver oil specfic tablets, ask in a health store and read teh back of the pack -it will tell you. Get this from health store, not a supermarket- SOLGAR range is the best if they make them

He refers to 200grms of lean meat in the diet. I assume this is just turkey, chicken or tuna? What other kinds of lean meats is there to choose from? Seeing as I need to eat it three times a day I imagine I will not be long growing tired of it.
Lean meat is anything without fat, processed, bread crumbs, batter - basically. Top quality meat chicken breast, turkey, beef/steak, lamb.

The author says to drink a teaspoon of olive oil. Can you really drink this stuff? I tasted it before and it was putrid. It took me ages to get the taste out of my mouth.
Olive oil is tasteless, a spoonful is nothing- you could mix it with rice etc, the diet may tell you to take it alone

For the large garden salad that’s only 65cals! What should I have in this salad?
Garden salad you can get in bags at the supermarket, iceburg lettuce has the least nutrition so stay clear of that. Just ensure you have loads of mixed lettuce, tomato, pepers etc - it doesnt really matter. garden salads just dotn have meat in them

He says 1 cup of milk protein blend? Is this whey. If it is, I’ll get it.
no milk and whey is different, sometimes milk protein mix contains a bit of whey . Try your health store and read the back
Finally what kind of cheese should I buy?
id only really eat cottage cheese but your diet is to add size so the fattier the better. im not sure on this one just make sure its not processed,

Someone else may want to jump in, ive never seen a diet like this before so cant be much help sorry!!

Thanks.[/quote]

sorry got the cup measurment wrong!! 268ml. id say the aim is to eat a lot through lots of veg, wholegrain and lean meats. I wouldnt say you have to be to strict with what type etc, probably even varying it would be better

Yeah, I cooked frozen veg this morning and actually found it quite easy to eat. I was a little concerned that frozen veg falls into the processed foods category though.
