Photography methods in film

Being an amateur photography for the past 5-6 years, one tends to look at all photos, and film, with the educated eye of looking for common photographic methods.

I've really noticed in movies over the past, maybe 2 or 3 years, that the rule of thirds is used in nearly every single shot in a movie, where possible. So much so, it's putting me off watching the film!

    Has anyone else noticed this?

I cop the use of the Golden Mean a bit also, but yes the rule of thirds is indeed prevalent.
