Unfortunately my pc is ****ed at the minute(needs a new graphics card) and I'm on my brothers laptop and am unable to watch it .

Thanks for giving the link though :)

Bute won it fairly wide in the end , 118-109 , 118-109 , 116-112 , apparently the fight was closer than that but Bute definitely deserved the win .

Sorry about the result , had presumed you were watching the stream .
Bute is well skilled and the only thing that would win Bika the fight were the question marks over Bute's chin(not that it's shown to be weak) , strenght and how he'd cope with Bika's rough-housing .

I had seen some of Colins' and Hamed's fights but that was not really what garnered my attention to the sport .

In late 2000 at the impressionable age of 11 we got SKY into the house and with that came Sky Sports .

At the time I had seen odd bits of boxing from Sky on a Saturday night , and then one night I see a great 12 rounds of boxing between this young chap by the name of Ricky Hatton(wonder what happened to him) fighting current British lightweight champion Jon Thaxton for the then vacant British Light-Welterweight title . It was a great fight and from then it was following Hatton's career that got me into the sport . He was fighting regulary on SKY and blowing away(admittedly mostly overmatched) opposition with a relentless body attack . At one point Hatton fought 5 times in just 7 months .

Then I started taking more interest in the undercards , Lewis v Tyson comes along(although that is a bit imaterial as I had seen plenty of Heavyweight fights like the rest of the general public for some time) , I discover SKY showing plenty of International fights(I presume they did this all along during Hatton's rise I just never noticed) .

The first non British located , non Heavyweight fight I see ?..............Morales v Barrera II . I guess that left me with no chance , boxing had me trapped .

From then on I took note of what boxing was on and where and when I got broadband(god knows how many years ago now) I caught up on most of the great fights from down the years .

It's pretty much an obsession now , I could discuss boxing all day to anyone that would listen and I think 7 years on from when I first really started following the sport , I've built up decent knowledge of it .

Dam great knowledge for a kid 18 (hmm rem them days ) Always though you were older. In fact I was 90% sure I knew who you were through my time with a north Tipp club. But you would have being in nappies when I was in the involved in and outside the ring . Have you ever try the sport yourself ?

Nenagh only got a boxing gym in the last two years and have only catered for above U12 for the last year . Due to the obscene amount of sport(well mainly soccer) I play nowdays I've never had time to try it out .

I was hoping to give it a lash even just for a while this summer , but it'll really depend on how much soccer I'm playing . Training 4 times a week and then playing twice a week is what'll be like when we start back into soccer again proper(currently just training once a week at the moment) so if I am going to do anything I should do it soon enough .

I gave up GAA last year because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with both that and soccer so I don't think I'll ever be able to put a proper effort into boxing .

If you really do have an obsession with the sport, then all the ingredients are there.
Any little bit of progress will encourage you immensely !!

I've been following boxing well over 20 years , since my father , (who boxed in Corinthians in Dublin during his youth)..... he sat me down to watch Rocky 1 !!!

It was a real treat to stay up that late to see the film, He went thru all the training procedures and taught me why and how each individual exercise benifitted each skill group.
He told me to be great i needed to start there 'n then aged 7 or 8 years old.
But unfortunately having a child boxing didnt seem agreeable to the adult members in my house.

Went around the world years back to do everything i ever wanted to do in life and boxing was one,......... in my mid 20's I joined a boxing gym in Melbourne

I stayed there for 3 months , loved it.
Was back in Melbourne 12 months later and re-joined for a while before i moved on travelling. I sometimes dream of even white-colllar boxing, but havent the time or the fitness now.
You gotta have a bit of an eveil streak to be a serious boxer,...... and I know I havent got that,..... on top of that I'm smoking and out of shape :(

Boxing was destroyed when Sky got in,...... Years of coverage missed, and I'm like you , still catching up on everything on youtube.

Best o' Luck with your boxing if you ever give it a go !!
Im going to post an interview for you,.... an inspirational piece by Tyson's old coach Kevin Rooney !!

    B-hop

Thanks man :) , I'm hoping to get some experience this summer and next summer , then take it a bit more serious when I get to college/uni . Hopefully wherever I do go to college will have boxing , even if it will mean me getting taken to pieces by far more experienced opposition .

The problem for me is soccer is my first love , I've been kicking a ball around longer than I have memories and although boxing has overtaken soccer as the sport I watch the most and discuss . In terms of playing , soccer will always have a special place in my heart as number 1 .
