Madrid - week long stay in mid-July

Well... after Barcelona last year, Madrid was a logical next choice for Spanish city. Flying over for a week next month. Anyone wanna enlighten me with some recommendations / opinions of the city? Hotel i'm staying in seems like it's in a prime location anyways.. and quite swankeeeeee looking.
