Looking to cut off some serious fat by august due to holidays and so on.
Just curious about breakfast meals. Is it better to cut them out completely or not? If not what should i be eating to reduce my body fat %?

When you say "breakfast meals" do you mean breakfast as a meal, entirely, or some sort of manufactured cereal/bar.

No no sorry just meant breakfast as a meal

Never, ever, ever, ever, miss breakfast.

It starts your metabolism in the morning and missing it will lead to weight gain. Try to get something like soda bread and scrambled eggs that provides your body with the protein and complex carbs it needs at that hour of the morning.

Take a look at the stickies at the top of this forum for a great guide to diet and nutrition.

Ok thanks how about something like Musli with some low fat milk?

And caffeine i.e. coffee and tea. I have been living off it for the past few months (exams and so on) is it a good idea to cut that out completely?

do you take milk and sugar in your tea/coffee? If you take sugar in it then it might be an idea to cut down. Also museli is not a bad if you get the no added sugar one. Other options include yogurt oat and fruit smoothie or porridge if you have the time. Oats are great because they really fill you up and not you snacking on crap mid morning

Yeah i was thinking about porridge but thought it might be too fatty or too many carbs?

Re tea and coffee: Yeah i so have milk and sugar in them i think i might just stick to tea when i really want it and just try to cut out the sugar completely

Porridge is possibly the best breakfast you can have. Just try get some protein in with it. Maybe mix some whey powder in with it.

NO WAY never miss breakfast !! who on earth told you this? it sets you up for the day. it should be big and full of complex carbs.
Id make it with water, if your looking to lose fat quick lay off dairy to - i know dairy is good for protein but your better to have lean or whey protein. Some fats are burned off quickly and good fats, the fat in dairy is not a good fat - dont use sugar either, little bit of honey, cinnamon

promax does a neutral whey protein powder- u cant taste it and it thickens up the porridge like milk

Just cut back on the tea and coffee, no sugar - use sweetner, i know it has a bad rep but its low in carbs and short term there is no proven effects. you also get sugar substitue from health stores, more carbs than sweetner but only a couple.

Do you exercise? eating carbs in the morning is fine, u burn them off throughout the day. try to reduce carb intake throughout the day and none after 4pm especially if your not doing anything.

you need to look at your lifestyle, you dont want to cut carbs completly - ull have no energy

Well im just finishing up with my exams now on wednesday then ive got a week off doing nothing (apart from copious amounts of drinking) then i start work in an office. Needless to say i am going to be at a desk all day.

I was thinking about goin to they gym almost everyday after work and do a mixture of cardio an weights and maybe rent out a badminton court every now and then.

I'd cut that out instead of the breakfast man!

Seriously though, if you just finished exams or whatever then fine, but if you're drinking regularly it will be a killer for somebody trying to lose weight.

As mentioned above tho - check out the stickies, they're great for this kinda stuff.

6 meals a day, carbs only in the 1st 3 on days you're not exercising, carbs with breakfast and pre/post gym on days you are!
