Hey im a 3rd year planning student, just passed all my 2nd year exams, in DIT Bolton St. As part of my course I need to do 10 weeks work experience in a planning office.

Does anyone here have any contacts that might be able to accomodate me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it need to be in a council planning office or can it be in private practice?

Ask your lecturers if they have contacts or ask: http://www.irishplanninginstitute.ie/reports.jsp

Thanks for that Victor. I've asked lecturers but they aren't a great deal of help.

It can be either private or county council. It doesn't have to be ten consecutive weeks either, just a total of 10. Are you working in the planning field?

    No, I'm a quantity surveyor.

What you could do is approach any of the larger architectural firms, explain your position and seek work experience with a planning dominance. Smaller firms, would of course do planning work, but not as much or in as much depth.

Also, from the websites, find project managment and planning specialists

RPS take on planning students. I was at a meeting a while ago were the planner brought a transition year student along. It was priceless. She was bored out of her try and you could see here thinking of ways not to fall asleep.

RPS planning offices are in Iveagh Court off Hardcourt Street
