VSR10 problem

    Howdy!

Ok, so I'm out in the garden popping holes in paper when I notice that pushing the bolt home has become increasingly difficult, but passed it off as dryness or maybe a bit of dust etc in the reciever. I spray in a little silicone oil around the bolt, but alas, still its extremely difficult to push the bolt home.

So I take it apart, no obstructions, nothing out of the ordinary, give her a good clean down, oiling, put her back together, put the bolt back in......and STILL, the bolt wont push home, only under force...and then......BANG....the bolt shoots home itself (ie the gun fires without me pressing the trigger). So I cock the gun again, and again the bolt snaps home by itself, again firing the gun

Whats the problem? I'm guessing the sear or such is wore down? Or the piston? I got a 120 spring for her but never upgraded any of the other parts, is that where I've gone wrong?? Have I to spend yet MORE money

I thind it sounds like one of the notches (not sure what they are called) has broken, mabey one of them had a spring in it that has moved out of place.

Or possibly you broke the piston by not upgrading it when you upgraded the spring.

Thanks for the replies guys, I still cant figure out whats wrong with her though. There is nothing broke, nothing overly worn down, no chips, cracks or no clearly worn edges on the piston where it is in contact with the sear. Have to figure out whats gone bad so I can replace that particular part.

    Heres a few pics:

And a video just so you see what is going on, the first few second show the free movement of the bolt with no retaining pin (ie no obstructions), its when the spring is under pressure that its snapping forward.

Q: Could the piston not be seperating from outer cocking handle. If i'm right, when you pull the lever back it pulls the spring back which catcches in the trigger and remains back. Then you push the bolt foward but the spring stays back. But you cant push it foward again so is the problem not with those two seperating? (No experiance with snipers but guessin based on springers)

    Just my 2 cents:p

i had a springer that had the same problem once and it sounds like the same thing, probably a catch that has worn too much so that the spring pushes the piston past whatever is ment to hold it in place... does that make any sense?

I have an el cheapo springer myself that fires itself jast when you cock it, the reason for that is a little notch on the piston has become well worn so the sear cant engage it. I'm not seeing any distinct wear on the piston with my VSR.

Also, when pushing the bolt back home there is considerable resistance, then it snaps home itself. Guess I'll look up a new piston anyway and see what there is in the line of trigger mechanism bits and bobs.

    Cheers guys ;)

What does the inside of the cylinder look like? Is it smooth or is there some dirt?
