Dont know if anyone has heard of these but they are the craze in america. Basically its a jacket that has a chest plate and velco arms that you fit on. The jacket forces you to take the club back on a draw shaped takeaway. Now im not one for this aids or gimmicks i try work it alone, but 6 people in my club got them and swear by them and ive witnessed the radical changes in their golf game.

The swing jacket has them hitting beautiful draws...i mean perfect swings. Ball striking is immense and their take away and tempo is to die for.

They are available only in america, wondering if anyone here has one. I'm definatly looknig into gettin one.

Cost between 80-100 euro...but seemingly an immense tool.

I presume they're banned for competitions as most aids like this are.

Do you have a link by the way?

o you dont use it during play, you wouldnt be able to hit a ball, its used to kinda etch the swing into your memory kinda thing.

    https://www.swingjacket.com/tourpro.php

on more reading it enforces the club on a certain plane that promotes a draw shape along with releasing the club with your body generating more accuracy and power.

I'm very scptical of these sort of things but when you see them, know people using them and seeing their drastic changes...makes you wonder.

Do you reckon it would be useful for all swing planes or just for driving?

Am I right in thinking that this has been around for a few years?

yeah, similar contraptions have been around for 15 years or so. hardly a new 'craze'. one even made an appearance in tin cup when costner was having swing issues...

You'll note all the 'reviews' on the site are from 2000/2001

As no one else has mentioned the obvious...if you are right-handed, it's right to left. For left-handers, it's left to right.

Gimmick. You'd be better off spending the money on some lessons from a professional and some practice balls.

most of the pros i know and my coach i see once a week, are all using this jacket and endorsing it.

A little more investagation shows this isnt a gimmick and ive seen the rewards with people i play with regularly.

And it will cost you 94 euro shipped off ebay, buy it now price.

Its being deemed the simplest way of teaching the draw plane and enhance ball striking. A good friend of mine is an assistant pro and has said that most coaches and teachers are using these now to speed up the process of teaching a good swing plane to then progress quicker onto other parts of the players game.

Could well save my money and spend 40 euro and hour for lessons, when the pro is going to put the damn jacket on me :D

Will look to source one of these.

Q on Draws, had one during the week that went as far as the next fairway - is that still a draw or a bad shot???

sounds more like a hook! although it depends where you were aiming to begin with. personally I think anything more than 10 yards or so of movement turns a draw or fade to a hook or slice. However if it is repeatable for you then stick with your natural shot. If you can reliably fade or draw the ball it gives you double the fairway to aim at which is a great confidence booster off the tee. I don't understand the obsession with the draw though, a lot of the top players play a fade on all shots. In general it lands softer and doesn't run as much so a good shot stays good. A nice draw can land hot and keep moving off the fairway in my experience.

I tend to only go with a draw if the trouble is down the right so I can start it that way and move it away from the trouble. Also the modern drivers are really designed for hitting the ball straight, moving it reliably is much easier with a 3 wood. A draw is all very well off the tee, but it is seldom the right shot at the pin imo.

absolutely, but as I mentioned above this isn't always a good thing! Off the tee it is handy sometimes on a straight hole, but otherwise you are best just hitting the fairway and staying there imo. From the fairway to the green a fade is often the best option unless the pin placement really doesn't suit it. In general if you do overdo the fade, you get more turn but same distance, whereas if you overdo the draw you can get a lot of extra turn and distance which can really get you in trouble.

It sounds like it is working for you, so stick with it. I'm just saying not to be afraid of your natural shot. If you can get that slice to a fade it will be much more repeatable for you imo than trying to turn it into a draw.

Remember that a draw should start out to the right of target. If you are hitting it left of the target line and the ball then turns left further that's not a draw. A draw is only produced when the club head is on an inside to outside path. When people who slice the ball suddenly start hitting it left it is usually because they are still on an out to in swing path but they are getting the face closed at impact.

If the swing jacket gets you to swing on a more in-to-out path then that is great. An good exercise to encourage this swing path is to put another ball or some object a couple of inches outside the ball (i.e a couple of inches from the toe of your club at address) and practice hitting balls this way. This exercise will encourage you to come at the ball from the inside or else you will hit the other ball or object.
