Wiring an Alarm Tamper Circuit on a Door Magnetic Switch

    Hi,

I'm installing a HKC securewatch system. For the front door I'm using a 5 terminal magnetic reed switch. Two of the terminals are silver which are for the alarm circuit. The other three are bronze colour which I'm assuming make up the tamper circuit (TC).

I am wiring this switch into a zone on it's own on the control panel - Zone 1. The TC connections on the control panel use two terminals.

Do I use any two of the bronze colour connectors on the magentic switch? I have tried all different possibilities off the three but cannot get a closed circuit when the switch is installed completly.

    Any advice or guidance appreciated.

Twist the two wires together and terminate then at any of the spare terminals

There is no tamper on your door contact. Those brass terminals are spare. Either disconnect them from the zone in the panel or do as jnealon said.

    hi,

just looking at the replys to your question,
the wires on the magnetib contact are actualy used as a tamper circut to tamper the cable in case the cable is cut.
Use a meter to check the cable if you are getting continuaty from the copper coloured cables these would be connected to the tamper circut on zone 1 if thats the zone you were using.
    regards
    James
