I'd probably get banned from Paranormal if I posted this there but I can't help but wonder if somebody had unknowingly had a premonition...

This advert appeared in the August 1988 edition of a popular home computer magazine...

Bit of a tenuous link there.

Moreso the fact his career went off the rails...

Biko gets a gold star :D I just thought it was freaky when I was reading it as I saw the Gary Glitter picture first and then the phrase

"The things some people will do to keep hold of their young..."

Okay, a young persons railcard in the UK is for 16-23 year olds but to have Gary Glitter trying to make himself look younger in a magazine appealing to kids and teenagers...well that was a bit startling given how things turned out a few years later.

EDIT: Whiskeyman, I love it :D

Wow, you must have been really bored when you were looking somewhere that had that as content. It was obvious what you were referring to, but it takes a bit of work to mould it into some sort of foretelling.

Well I'm bored yes but I had just been on the Retro Games and Arcade forum and someone linked to an old Commodore 64 game, so I followed the lin to that website which has scans of old commodore 64 magazines and sure enough a full page advert stuck between game reviews.

What's even more strange is that I would have been reading that magazine when I was about 12-15 years old and I didn't think Gary Glitter was cool then (so a 16-23 yo wouldn't either!) so how anyone thought that this would encourage young people to buy the railcard is beyond me!

You need to train the eye to see these things...

Good point. If the magazine was dated August '73, maybe, but '88? Although I remember earlier that year, there was a number one single out by The Timelords (the guys behind KLF) called Doctorin' The Tardis. It mashed up Rock 'n' Roll by Gary Glitter/The Glitter Band and the Dr Who theme, among other tunes. So maybe Gary Glitter had another day in the sun for a few months on the back of that.

Oh wait, I see the British Rail link now.

All glam rock stars wore platform shoes back then...
