Finally got my hands on this game. Videogamesplus.ca have a few copies left. It's next to impossible to get a PAL copy since was one of the last Gamecube games ever released and therefore released in ridiculously low numbers.

Anyway this is one of the most charming and original games I've ever played. You play as a small robot only a few centimetres who's sole purpose is to bring joy and happiness to the world. You do this by cleaning up the house you are living in and helping out the cast of characters in it. You have a certain amount of time each day and night to create as much happiness as possible. Sounds boring? Well it's far from it. You also only have limited battery power so have to constantly recharge yourself by plugging yourself into the mains with the little plug dangling behind Chibi Robo.

The game is full of typical japanese insanity. The sanderson family who you are living with are quite odd especially the daughter who thinks she is a frog. Also when people aren't around the toys in the house come to life. These characters are quite eccentric and include a pirate, superhero and a platoon of heavily armed militant eggs (the Free Rangers, made me smile).

The game follows the metroid principles of exploration and reward. Initially only a few rooms are open to you and a small number of abilities. However as the game progresses you can gain new abilities from objects you find (using a toothbrush for cleaning and a coffee mug as a shield for instance) or from the shop in your chibi house. These in turn open up new rooms in the house and also previously inaccessible areas of familiar rooms. There are a ton of things to do in the house and plenty of sub-quests to keep you interested. It's quite humorous and will bring a smile to your face on lots of occasions.

There really is nothing quite like this game and even if you think it won't appeal to you I can't see how anyone couldn't be enamoured by the charm of this game. Take a chance, I'm certainly enjoying it more than any GTA or supposedly 'mature' game.

I also here there is a DS chibi robo game in the pipeline.

I always meant to play this but never got round to it. Hmmm, I'll just have to get it now.

I'd say you will love it. It has the same charm as something like Viva Pinata. Trying not to sound like a big girls blouse but Chibi carrying around his plug is the cutest thing ever.

I love the Free Rangers and the story of them at war with the family dog for killing one of their members. The only big problem is that the dialogue can't be sped up which is annoying when you talk to a character by accident.
