    Hi guys,

Two quick questions, if I open a packet of that mozarella in the water pouch thing will half stay fresh until tomorrow with no water around it?

Also, anyone have a quick and easy pasta recipe that's really cheap and tasty? (3 days til pay day!) :D

Well if you still have mozzarella left you could do a caprese. Not exactly a pasta but it only takes 2 mins to make and very very tasty and refreshing especially given the current weather!

    What is a caprese?

It's slices of tomato with a slice of mozzarella on top, some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and some fresh basil leafs on top.

Sliced mozarella, tomatoes and basil with a drizzle of olive oil and a bit of freshly ground black pepper and salt. Simple but nice (as long as your tomatoes are nice and ripe, that is).

Gently fry an onion in olive oil with 3 or 4 cloves of garlic and 2 or 3 fresh green chillies (adjust to taste) until the onions are transparent.
Add a tablespooon of wine vinegar and another one or two of good soy sauce.
Now add a tin of chopped tomatoes, bring to the boil and simmer for at least an hour - basically until the sauce is nice and thick.
Cook up your pasta (Penne is best imho), add some mixed herbs to the sauce, mix the sauce and pasta together and voila - el cheapo penne al arabiata. Total cost less than 2 euro.

Serve it with a green salad if you can stretch to that.

    hth.

Caprese is traditionally made with Beef Tomatoes.

Thought this thread was going to be about the Gordon Ramsey show last night. He was making buffallo mozarella on it. He milked the buffalos and all!!

    Boil some penne until al-dente.
Cook down some blitzed tinned tomatoes with garlic and a few basil leaves.
A whole onion can be added to the sauce if you like.
Add the sauce to the penne, then tip into a lasagne dish.
Tear the mozzarella into bits and scatter over the penne.
Grate parmasean over the top and bake in the oven 180 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.

    Lovely

To answer your original question, the mozzarella won't keep well without the water stuff. Try and keep as much water in the bag as you can, and store in it a container to avoid spillage.
