Right, heres the story,im absolutely freaked out of flying,i hate it.The fact that i have to get on a plane at the end of the month for 11hours to the states is wrecking my head.
I have been to a hypnotherapist before for this but he just sat there and talked about it and asked me how it came about and to replace my fear with happiness or laughter. This didnt work.
I think i need the "You're feeling sleepy...when i click my fingers you'll wake up and never fear flying again" kind of hypnotherapy.
I've taken tablets to calm me before but dont think they would last the flight so i just want to be "cured" really if its possible. My neighbour had it done and it was a success but havent had a chance to speak to him yet so anyone who can recommend someone in Cork-Do Please.
    Thanks in advance.

Is it freaky that the NoSpam! verification word is aerlingus(no word of a lie)!!!

Is it something specific you're scared of that people could help you with by answering questions on noises or safety etc? A lot of people find it better being able to fly when they know whats going on and how planes work etc....come chat in aviation forum :)

People often think that an aircraft that finds itself without power (engines out) will immediatly go down or become uncontrollable. A Boeing 747 at cruising altitude can glide for more than 30 minutes before it reaches the ground. Most have an automated system(wind powered) that automatically deploys out of the aircraft in such circumstance, that even provide pilots with enough electricity to power main navigational instruments.

I went to the guy in Tuckey Street.. didn't work for me. In fact now I'm a small bit cynical about hypnotherapists.

I don't know how much I believe in that hypnosis business but I too went through a phase of being terrified of flying. I am alot better now, still get nervous, but don't stress about it as much beforehand.
I think the idea posted above is your best bet - understanding how everything works and how incredibly unlikely it is that you will actually crash really helped me. I have an acquaintance who is a pilot and he helped me no end by answering my many many questions. Visiting an aviation forum is an excellent idea - fighting fear through knowledge and all that! Good luck.
