Sky Dish Out

    Hello,

Our sky dish was knocked out of alignment by a ladder hitting against it. I'm not sure how to realign it myself. Is it possible to do it by trial and error? I know you can buy alignment tools but don't really know where to get them. I think 28.2E is the Sky Digital satellite.

Any tips on how to correct this problem?

You can get a satellite finder kit in maplin cheaply.

you dont really need a satfinder to find Sky, there is a rudimentary one built in to the digibox already.
If you are lucky, you may have only knocked it out of allignment on one axis, ie twisted it to left or right or alternatively knocked it up or down, all depend which bolts were tightest, so if you have an idea which way it was knocked you are already halfway there.
If there are any other dishes in your area, take a look at the direction and elevation (how much it is tilted) and this will give you a good idea how yours should be.
If it is not possible to see your TV while alligning, you best bet is to use a portable with a long av or aerial lead back to the digibox so you can see whats going on as you move the dish.
On the digibox press Services, Signal test.
As you move the dish slowly past the Sky satellite position the quality and signal strength bars should increase and decrease. When you get sufficient stregth and quality the signal should indicate Locked with NetID 07d4.
Aim for over 60% strength and quality.
    Now check you channels.
Depending on luck and knowhow all this may take 5 minutes or 5 hours so patience is the key. Good luck
