    Howdy!

I'm organising a weekly 5/5 cash game in New Ross
It wil be on Tuesday nights @ 10.30pm starting on the 19th June

I feel like there is enough players around that would like to play a decent game and not be killed by rake, so I had a chat with Seamus in Caesers Palace and we came up with the following:

    $5/$5 NLHE
    $500 min buy-in / $1k max
    25$ sit-down fee
    rake $ZERO!! - pots less than $200; pots of $200+ $5

Max players 10 - booking in advance recommended - call Seamus on 086 8527081 or PM me

I'm looking forward to a decent regular game with a good standard (and no all-in on the blind ****e!) I have 6/7 players already interested

    cheers

we are (wexford) an independent state as of yesterday - i have overthrown the county council and have introduced KBD's King Bops' Dollars KB$- ie fk you!

what do you think of the idea??

    Now all hail King Bops

That 25 sit down fee coupled with rake of 2.5% for every 40BB pot makes for a game where you'd "be killed by rake".
nine-handed game, the club has made 225 before dealing a hand, and some players might go broke early and go home, which means that they will have paid proportionately more rake than someone who stays until the end, which is inequitable.

you've been there Mike, anything is possible in Ross ;)

i agree with Marq the sit down fee is a bit steep, ditch it and just have a normal rake

who are the 6/7 you have lined up???

someone do me a favour and write out an example of both please:

eg an average night @ a 5/5 table

by my math there is a massive difference and my way would be of huge beneift to the players.

please and thanks with cherries on top!!

you can guess the players mick!

In the Fitz's 2/5 Omaha game in 5 hours they rake €495 from a 9 handed table. In 5 hours of this game, assuming the same 9 players all the time (unlikely as it is), and that is €225. This leaves €270 of a difference which is 54 pots of €200+, so if there are more than 11 pots per hour greater than this then the table is paying more.

This number of hands will decrease as the player turnover rises. If 15 players play in a 5 hour period then this falls to 5 hands per hour. 15 players is far more likely than the same 9 (or 10 possibly). The truth may be in the middle as well though.

In conclusion, it looks like the house wins from Bops idea. I don't know what the rake is normally down there in a game of this size, so I used the Fitz as comparison.

thanks dom - i'm guessing they do it @ €11 per player per hour in the Fitz

that sounds very fair to me

down here in gereral i'd guess that there's rake per pot of betwen €5 and €20 in a 5/5 game - i think it would be much more cost effective for the players my way - you could see €70+ going down the hole in a game of that size here in a single round of the table!

here's the way i look at it:
€25 to play (play a 250 tourney and you'll pay the same - you'll get the same benefits - drinks/sandwiches etc)
€5 from every pot of more than €200 that you win - most players i know will stupidly give that in a tip for the hand (there will be no €1's on the table)

personaly, i think it will encourage players to the game here, and it will save them at least 50% of what they would normally pay - imo the house will take about €500 from the game (the same as the Fitz)

Yes, €11 pp/ph. If there are no €1 chips in play then do the dealers not get tips?

It sounds like a bloody rake heavy game there, and I'm sure it will be no harm to try it out to see how it works, but one thing is still nagging at me. Why is the house willing to do this if they will get less money from it? there will need to be some way to measure this though, such as comparing the house take at the end with the average take from a similiar game and if you can do this then you have a reliable way of measuring success or otherwise.

On a totally different, thread derailing topic, I noticed you never answered my last post in the deconstructing Bops threead? I presume this was due to you being in Cork, but I would still be interested to see a reply.

    /ahem, back on topic pls.

I also think the €25 sit down is a bit steep.

Normal rake should apply and cap it at €10.
Overheads are the same whether its a 1/2 game or a 2/5game?
So why is the club not happy with having a full table every tuesday and they know that in a 2/5 or 5/5 game the rake is going to be higher anyway?

also why 5/5 and not 2/5?

they are willing to do it, because i am basically renting the facilities for a fee - this game will only work if i put some work into it and get people to play - it wont take away from the clubs normal business much (smallish 1/2 game and small tourney) - i'm looking at paying a flat fee for it and just trying to cover costs tbh - if the game takes more than expected i'll change it (drop/decrease the sitdown fee)

i know it sounds a bit mad, but i'd just like to organise a decent wekly game locally - and nobody seems willing to do so (without very extravagent rake issues!)

i haven't looked at the other thread - i'll go and find it now!

i forgot all about that thread

if it was in relation to playing live with you - i believe  i had a brain fart and mixed you up with flushdraw!!

your advice about me playing way too much shi*e oop to make it profitable is probably correct in principle...maybe i'm just too good :p

strange! - you are one of the reasons why i'm organising this game! - we had a discussion lately about crazy rake & the lack of a decent game

imo if anyone who plays down around here thinks that this is steep there's something wrong - i'm looking at a way that will return close on 500 for the night

i know that you know how much a full 1/2 game with stacks between 50 & 500 rakes in a night down these parts??

there is no need for €1 chips in a game of this size - they are just messy imo

the bottom line is will you play it tuesday week?? - let me know - it's will be interesting how much the table takes - and very transparent!

(we can play our HU game live beforehand :) )

if you'd like i can make it a 2/5 game with standard 5% rake capped at a tenner??

...although i can guarantee it will cost you more (unless you're just taking a shot/hit and run i suppose)

do you really think the 25 quid is a put-off??

Dont think the 25quid is a put-off, but with rake too in most hands if its a lively game then house gets $250 + rake

Only reason I suggested 2/5 is that it suits a passive player (me:D )
and also someone mentioned earlier tips for the dealers
(If there are no €1 chips in play then do the dealers not get tips?)

Ill play if its a 2/5 game, count me in.
also 2/5 means that a guy can move from the 1/2 game with $250buy-in, where if its a 5/5game then your not going to get anyone moving up to a 500 buy-in?

I get the feeling if john and tommy show up it will cost 25/50 to see a flop..!!!

ill send you my mobile via private message.
