Drunken assholes stopping me from eating my Guinness

I started eating Guinness recently at home but regularly when I have a nice pint of the black stuff in the pub I get sanctimonious, pretentious, drunken arseholes shouting abuse at me for it. Like the other night I bought a pint at the bar, sat down and started to dig in and some fat old shíte starts shouting at me from a barstool going "What de fook are ye doing ye fooken eejit? Ye gotta wait for it to settle and whats de fooken staree wit da spoon?". Another night recently I took about three spoonfulls of the head before some old slag storms over, grabs my spoon and fúcks it across the room, and then calls me a "disgrace to all of Eye-er-land"?

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people? Am I just drinking in the wrong pubs or something?

You eat guinness? With a spoon? I suppose it's fine if you have some kind of medical problem that won't allow you to sip...

Why do you eat it as a matter of interest? I wouldn't tear the spoon out of someone's mouth myself for doing it though. Probably do a bit of a double take, then nudge the person next to me - much as I do when I see ladies holding each others hands. I've seen weirder things. None that I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are weirder people out there.

You eat guinness? With a spoon? You are the strange one, not the old man or the old slag. And yes you should leave it settle.

You're supposed to use a fork. Eating Guinness with a spoon is for children and Americans.

I remember I served a french woman a glass of Guinness before, and she started drinking it with a straw. then she told me it tastes horrible, and wanted to know why we Irish drink it. I told her because we haven't evolved far enough to be able to use straws

    Okay.......

I'm sorry, i'm finding this very hard to believe...

So what happens when you get to the bottom of the glass? It must be hard to keep it on the spoon. Or do you ask for a bowl? :)

So you're worried about the place you drink? Well if i went to a restaurant and saw someone drinking soup through a straw i'd look at them pretty strange? Why do you do it? I can't see a spoon aiding the taste of guinness at all...

I thnk this thread is just here to take the piss...

Eh, you just tip the glass to the side. It's not hard.

I prefer how it tastes this way. Drinking soup with a straw might look strange but I wouldn't accost you for it.

Would you drink a pint of lager this way? Or would that just be strange... What in the world would make you use a spoon. What kind of spoon? Sure you'd hardly even get a mouthful...

i'm amuzing myself replying at this stage... I don't believe you actually use a spoon.

I'd hardly call it eating too. It's still a drink at the end of the day... And yes it is very very strange...
