Seeing as the weather has been so nice lately, I've gotten the great idea of planning a nice picnic for me and the other half.

Only problem is I've no idea where would be good. I don't want to go to the main beaches as they're likely to be busy.

    Any suggestions?

I only know one area of Clare but here goes.
Just north of Kinvara There are some nice beaches and camping spots (this is in Galway)
Kilfenora has some really good hostels and pubs and is not as busy as Doolin
Around doolin there are the cliffs of Moher. Also it has some nice castles. The
Pol na Innain show cave is worth a visit.
The Ballinalacken castle is pretty but should be avoided like a rabid badger.
Ailladie, North of Doolin has some nice climbing and is a really pretty spot.

For something a little bit different, why don't you get the ferry over to Inis Mor. Rent a couple of bicycles, cycle up to Dun Aengus, and have your picnic there..

    Ferries are available from:
Rossaveal: approx every half hour in the morning, and return at 4pm, 5pm and 7:30pm or something simillar. More details on the ferry here:

Doolin:9:30am and 1pm, returning 11:30am and 4pm. More details here:
