Yes indeedy, I have to agree with Gandalf. I'm currently smashing my 350d as I'll never be able to produce artwork like that, so why bother. You're gifted Valentia!

I'm with Gandalf, I saw the set on flickr, one better than the other.

Easy on lads ;) Thanks but it wasn't really that hard. I took them as raw and dramatised them a bit in the new Adobe Raw 4.1 which is similar but better than the present Lightroom workflow. I really appreciate your comments but wasn't expecting such praise to be honest.

Your work is always a pleasure to view.

    Thank you:)

    Ah you're blushing now:D

I cant afford CS3:(, waiting for Lightroom1.1, I doubt if it will let me produce pics like those though.

I'm lucky my daughter is a student so CS3 is just about affordable John. Lightroom 1.1 will have the same engine so it will be possible. In fact I'd say it is possible at the moment. I didn't try it but most of the controls I used are there now. The "Black" slider is my favourite bit though!

    Thanks to all who commented.

We went to Loughcrew to see the tombs and ended up in Multyfarnham by accident. There is a fabulous old 13th century church there too. It was a bit dark and I didn't have a tripod. I must say too that the dilapidated state of the statues did most of the work for me.

I think one is fantastic, two looks as though you stuck a sprig of mint in the hand. I know you probably didn't, but it just strikes me that way. I do like it a lot, but can't help feeling (justly or unjustly?) that the leaf was placed there.

And I don't like three at all :) There you go.

I agree about the leaf. I didn't put it there but obviously someone did. I feel exactly as you do about it but still like it. I think three is my favourite ;) I just love black blacks and contrast anyway so that's probably why. Merci for the comment. It just shows we all have different tastes.

I have 4 who are students , from leaving cert down to first class, I don't know if that means I can afford CS3 now (never thought of the student license) or if I will never be able to afford it.:(

Truth be told I never quite got to grips with PS, Lightroom seems to suit me much better.

Yeah, unsharp mask, dodge and burn are about all I use PS for though. Occassionally though I like to experiment with stuff from books or the net. Only problem is I have it forgotton the next day :(

BTW CS3 is just over €200 for an "Education Licence".

Danny, can you explain the how the student licence works and the process for it please as I am sure going this route will always be a better alternative?

Wow! Great work. I love the first one with the cobweb veil over the statue. And the second one from the second set is fantastic too. It was worth getting lost!

Spotted the first one on flickr the other night - blew me away - a shroud of web and leaves... it's just so Gondorian :D

Glad to see you're enjoying the new ACR, told ya it was the same as lightroom with the black slider!!!

If you are a student, teacher etc in a recognised educational sector you qualify for a licence. I think parents of young students can also apply on their behalf. All the info is here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19509&sliceId=2
