Can anyone recommend an EPG plugin for the Dreambox 7025? I'm running it with the Gemini 2.3 image.

The Enigma-1 based images.. which run on everything except the 7025!.. support a plugin called MV.. which is an excellent means of pulling in xmltv EPG dumps and using some config mapping to match program feeds with given channels. I got this to work before with my 5620.

I've asked on the Gemini forums (http://i-have-a-dreambox.com/) why this plugin was not ported to the 7025 (enigma2) and never got an answer. I think however that it relates to the completely different design of how the Enigma2 EPG works and also that the MV author has abandoned the maintenance of the MV plugin.

There is built-in support for Media Highway EPGs in the 7025.. but Sky UK use their own proprietary solution and I'm not aware that it has been reverse-engineered yet.

However in recent months, I have found a usable alternative.. Checkout.. http://www.tvbrowser.org. I will say at this point.. if you do not have the dreambox on a LAN, the details below are not much use to you.

TV-Browser a java-based app and will run on Windows, Mac & Linux. You can use it to setup preferences for UK & other channels and have it download the details. On that light alone, its a great tool for anyone looking to search for particular programme schedules etc.

But with its capture plugin, you can configure it to run a program or invoke a HTTP URL GET. With an extended web-if installed on the 7025, you can configure tvbrowser to literally invoke a HTTP GET to program a recording.

Its obviously not the same as having the live EPG available on the receiver box itself but it does help for quick and easy programming from the PC.

Firstly, I would suggest, you upgrade to version 2.4 of Gemini for 7025.. its got some good enhancements in the video playback.

The web interface that comes with the Gemini image does not work with tvbrowser. So you need to go to http://ntdata.dyndns.org/ and download the "CVS-WebIf (webif-enhanced 0.8.1.rc3) mit enhancement" plugin. This is an ipk package file.

You need to FTP this to /tmp on the 7025 & install:
telnet <dream ip> .. login as root when prompted
    cd /tmp
ipkg install enigma... <the ipk file you transferred there>
    reboot

.. you can just type "enigm" when entering the ipkg command and then hit tab to expand the filename in full (apologies if you are already familiar with Linux/Unix/bash).

Then on your PC etc.. you need to click on the "Capture Plugin" from the Plugins menu or click on its icon (which is one of those movie cut boards with the black/white stripes).

I've attached a saved config dump from my tvbrowser.. you can unzip the file and import the .tcf config file into your tvbrowser. You do this by clicking on the devices tab of the capture settings dialog... ands then clicking on the import device.

The only change you should need to make is to edit the URL.. "http://dream/web/tvbrowser?", changing dream to your receivers IP address or hostame on your network.
