    Hey,
I'm looking for a summer job for me, I'm 15 . (May be a bit late) I saw a chart at school and I can legally work from 14 (16 is a good age for working but ,im 16 on October so thats no use :p )
One of my mams friends said that Tesco are good employers and take on all ages (Big one in my town), so my Dad went in , Didn't go into much detail with a lady who works there spoke to him because he just thought about it when shopping ,and she said for me to send in my CV. (Lol :D What will I put on it , Born . . . School and *just* about finished my J.C :p ) I have had Nil work , nowhere, So is Tesco good , all feedback welcome :) ?
Really I dont *want* a summer job, but ,well , my dad is making me get one because I'm not working hard in school because basically I'm just lazy and UN-motivated . So his theory is to get me out working for the summer and make me realize how hard work is for money etc etc  I suppose its an OK idea but I'm *UN-motivated* so :p Do ye think this is a good idea on my dads part or . . ??

OK , I think I have given enough detail :D

    Thanks,
    Barry.

Look at it from Tesco's point of view.

If they hire you, they have loads of working hour legislation to observe due to your age and this will be hassle for a manager trying to draw up a roster.
The manager could just as easily hire someone looking for a full-time job (possibly an Eastern European) or even an Irish college student who is over 18.

It won't be easy OP, best of luck.

I see you are in Nenagh, my home town :)

Have you tried the Abbey Court Hotel? You could work in housekeeping or maybe as a porter. Not sure about lounge staff at your age.

Luckily for you, there are loads of new businesses in Nenagh so you may have some luck. Try to sort this before the exams finish as you will have more competition then.

Give it a shot barry! you could get a day job pickin up glasses in a local pub or sumthing small in a local shop! I used to work in a supermarket when i was 16, Managers nightmare to have 16 yr olds because of legislation etc..!

Sending in your CV is unlikely to get you anywhere. You should call in and speak to a supervisor. An anonymous CV will more than likely get lost.

Or why not try a fast food place? Is there a McDonalds in Nenagh?

You could lie about your date of birth, say you just turned 16. It's no biggie since it's only a few months difference

Yeah, glass-collecting is how a lot of people start. Or yes, working in a smaller shop rather than Tesco.

Not possible unless you are being paid under the table. Your tax details would prove otherwise, since you need a PPS number to work and all.

Oh ****, you're right. Then you can only kill one of your friends a year older than you and assume his identity. No flaws in that plan!
