Galway Airport ( EICM ) 09/06/07

Hi all, spent a nice morning out in EICM today, heres the best bunch of a lot of pictures taken on a very hot and hazy day..

I personally love the last one, anyhow thoughts and comments welcome,

my backround now too....even though that plane wakes me up at 5 every mornin when its landing!!!!! I live right in its flightpath!!

was that last one Galway airport?, I thought grealishes kitchens was right across the road? and the other side of the runway had an orange frame for the lights?

Yes thats Galway Airport she was landing on 08 so that last picture was taken more or less looking towards Galway City.

That Orange frame you talk about is the ILS for the Airport. Its located behind the Airfield perimeter.

Oh! I was never close enough to see them, I can only see the orange frame from the road!

Its nice down there especially when they come right over your head and next week EICM will start Operating BAE146's with Nordic Airlines. I will be flying in one when i go to Spain in August

So more comfortable to fly from EICM, IMO they should be Operating BAE146's all year round as its well capable of handling them.

I couldn't agree more, pity they can't get the land to extend the runway, it would have a very positive effect on aviation and tourism in Galway

what is the story with extending the runway in Galway? was that not one of the FG (Galway candidate) policies if elected?

I dont think the Farmers will budge on it?

Ya thats the problem, a councillor did promise an extension but she didn't get in, and there really isn't anything she can do unless the farmers will sell it, it's a pity!
