Ideally, you should use a flash program, as it makes it more difficult to steal your pictures.

Flash isnt an option (at the moment - well, we have to start with something) on the site at the moment as its been done in HTML.

However, are there other programmes (3rd party or similar) that allow you to use the gallery as flash??

On my site I use Autoviewer...

You can change the colour of the background so it ties in with the site!

Click a band there and check it out, if you want.

if you have flickr, you should use the api and connect via php or flash e.g simpleviewer..i have both on my site to cater for everyone. No need for extra uploads, just manage everything through flickr..

Why i get around to it i will include a search on my site (after i go thorough my pics on flickr and properly name and tag all my images)..

This is by far the easist way possible to maintain a site and invloves minimal work after initial setup..i would definitely recommend it...

check out www.thetrueview.com for examples..the second from top link on the left (non flash) is to the php gallery page and the rest of the links are to the specific flash galleries..

    I use Gallery, http://gallery.menalto.com/.
It does what I want it to.

Just last week I finished by gallery script
    http://www.sebastiandooris.com/Gallerys/personal.php?title=Personal

it uses PHP for reading file names and js and css to display them. had all the gallerys in flash a while ago but had so many problems.

    problems with flash
    - Slow to load
    - hard to customise without advanced knowledge of ActionScript
    - Google will not index the content
    - Accessibility for the visualy impared is quite bad.

I will second Gallery (specifically Gallery2) It's simple to use, looks great and has tons of options/modules. I use it for my photos.

BTW If you are concerned about people "stealing" your photos, you can use a watermark module with Gallery2
