DVD Drive wont now load burned dvd's (help!)

    Ok, here goes this problem.

    I was playing about disabling different things and uninstalling my nero burning rom v7 software (including maual registry removal of all keys and values of "nero) and since I have had the following problem (I have tried to re-enable everything since but no luck).

    I was trying to remove any refs to roxio and nero so my Oblivion game disc would run (gave up on oblivion in the end) and found that from now on what happens is:

    1) I burn a DVD-R in my dvd burner with reinstalled nero or Ashampoo burner (installed after having the below problem with reinstalled nero only).
    2) I verify the data disc in the burner after burning is completed and its ok.
    3) I put the disc back in the PC and go into "my computer" (or just go into my computer).
    4) My drive changes name from DVD-RW Drive to CD Drive.
    5) I click on the "CD Drive" and get an empty folder.

    I have right clicked on the discs and all tell me that they are under file system type "RAW".

    I think this is a problem with missing windows files or more likely registry entries. I have found mention of this problem before but on the net but I cant find a fix.

    I have tried the following fixes:

    replaced udf.sys and cdfs.sys in windows with another copy (no effect)

    fixed the atapi system copy (no effect)

    NMIndexService restarted no effect (from nero common settings folder, no effect).

    Ran old discs burned before this problem came up and it looks like I cant load ANY burned DVD-R's

    I have even tried system restore and taken it back a month without any luck (problem was noticed after wednesday)


    PLEASE, PLEASE help!
