    hi again guys

just wondering if any of you have experience with the EG(92-95) and the EK(95-00?) as i am looking at a jap spec SiR model in both versions and at the moment the VRT seems to be the deciding factor with going for the EG, is there much of a difference with each car?

looking forward to the replies guys thank you

These are great cars and trouble free(ish), I'd go for a EG, as they seem more of a drivers car, but the EG attracts boy racer scum inbread w*****s, still they are lovely cars, go for the SiR, and try if possible to go for a standard car, (no stupid exhausts).

thanks for the reply volvo boy and congrats on the test.

yeah ive heard the EG is more of a drivers car and alot lighter and nimble, same engine i think? do you know if there are any differences with the SiR and the SiR2?

tastefull mods only i assure you, i want it to look pure factory, with oem and spoon only, no big cans as the EG has little or no sound deadening, just a nice performance box thats quiet down low-mid and a hint of power up top. i sure as hell dont want to be another pimped out altezza light wearing, halford wheel-exhaust wearing boy racer mobile as (i know im going to get seriously laughed at and flamed for saying this) but i think these will be a classic in years to come (flame suit on) :D

I recently drove a 92 SiR and it was done up to the gills with v-tec controllers and chimney pipe for the exhaust, had to drive in neutral when i was going down my road, didnt want parents complaining, but original ones are nice, has to be stock cant stand mods.

Nah! not for me i'm afraid, never understood why people put amber side repeaters on a car that had clear ones standard:confused: , like your down-grading your car.

EG has a bit lower of a driving position, but isn't really any more of driver's car than the EK (if that's your #1 priority get an Integra) (I've owned all 3, currently driving a '00 VTI)

The EG has a couple of things going against it vs the EK: knacks trying to steal it. This *will* happen unless you live in the Burren! And crash safety is dubious.

OTOH the EK actually has factory fitted security (tho some early Jap models don't) and is impossible to rob without the knacks getting their hands on the keys. Doesn't look as nice in hatch form tho as the EG.

Some of the JDM models have the 170ps B16A and some of these have an LSD. It's a bit of an artform telling which is which tho.

Have drove both in sir, and im also a big JDM fan and I have to say the eg is the nicer drive, but lookswise, you cant beat an ek decked on d2 coilovers and 15'' rota gt3s!

    thanks guys for the input
the integra is out im affraid my limit is a 1.6. all said above i think ill go for the EG and get a good alarm and maybe a removable steering wheel.

JHMEG you seem to know your civics, is there much of a difference with the SiR and the SiR2? different engine revision?lsd?

yeah rotas look cool and would prob be perfect for irish roads, but if i can stretch my budjet i would be after some works or advan`s or other super light wheel

There are differences, but aside from the badge on the back it's very hard to tell which is which!

AFAIK, all SIR-IIs are the 170ps, but some of the early (1992/3) SIRs are also 170ps (as are the 1992/3 DA6 Integras). SIRs and SIR-IIs were available at the same time in both EG and EK models.

Some gearboxes didn't come with LSDs at all, and some had them as optional. I'm not sure (outside of the CTR) if any had LSDs as standard, tho I don't think so. Again, you can't tell just by looking at the gearbox...
