Wanna go away mid august to rome for 2 nights with the gf. Arrow Tours are pricing it at €1100, for two nights, 4 star hotel, including flights. That seems like alot to me for two nights in rome.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Aer Lingus/Ryanair for flights and hotels.

NEVER book a package for a city break....

Do everything seperately... Flights, accom and just get a taxi or the public tranport from the airport!!

travel agents charge so much and in my opinion are only really good value where your going somewhere totally alien and hopping from place to place... Then they're worth their weight in gold...!!

Any first hand experience of people who have travelled to rome? going for 3 nights. Not into art museums at all, but monuments, historical sites, and long walks are all a good thing. :)

Plenty of monuments/historical sights to see that's for sure!! The Vatican can take up a whole day coz it's so big. Also the collosseum is interesting. But be prepared to do alot of walking and when crossing the road beware of mad roman drivers!!! They will run you over!!

Went to Rome for a week, it will be very hard to find a good/cheap hotel, they all seem very expensive, I managed to get one in a good location, it was still pricey enough but I wouldnt recommend it, it was kind crappy in the end!! but you won't care too much as long as its clean and somewhere to sleep. I would definitely book flights and hotel yourself though..much cheaper

that does seem alot but you must remember ALL italians take their hols in august. So its the busiest tourist time and somewaht explains the high price.
But its def worth booking flights hotel etc seperatly
