Absolutely. If anyone wants a lift from the tallafornia direction I am probably going to head out to it (in a vintage focus).

Might just see you guys there on Sunday so. I was planning to go to the kite surfing on Bull Island, but can do that on Sat now. :-)

Is that close to Ballbrigan? If yes, I could go there too. I don't know my plans for Sunday so far, however if I go there, there'll be one free place in my car.

It's about 15-20 min from Balbriggin. Just head north, but get off the M1 before Drogheda.

cant find any reference to a town or village called Mosney in google maps. but wiki says theres a butlins camp called Mosney. is this where its going to be held ?

if the weathers good i think ill take a trip up

If you are coming from South of M1, look out for a signboard saying "Toll bridge 8 miles ahead". Its the next exit - marked marked "Julianstown and Drogheda South".

Turn right, go over the bridge over the motorway, keep going (watch the speed, its 80kms, and there is a cleverly hidden speed camera there, which gave me two yummy points!)

If it was the same venue as last year, its about a kilometer up that road, about 200 meters AFTER the 'apple green' petrol station, its a small country road to the right. It will be signposted I would say. If you see a 'Blacks Garden Centre' or second apple green on left, you have gone too far ahead.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers but im sans vehicle.

I was going to get the train up to laytown and walk. looks about 1k on g-maps.

Actually, the bus leaves you very near. I think it's a 5 min walk down that little road. Just the Dublin-Drogheda Bus Eireann.

I'm not sure if the Mosney train station is open either.

Traffic was kinda mental coming/going. But, plenty of interesting cars on display. Didn't see anyone I knew there either.

I still have to look through my images.

Brilliant shots. I was there today and came back with a handful of shots, but they all looks exactly like what I took there last year! Your shots are very different and very unique. Food for thought for me. Thanks for sharing!!

Cheers guys :) I found it difficult to pull myself away from just shooting all the different badges on the cars!

The trickiest thing, with these places, is to try and avoid unwanted reflections of people I think - unless you decide to shoot reflections, specifically ;)

I also took my holga - managed to shoot the first frame with the lens cap on and wound it on before I noticed, bah :( Reeeeally hope some of them come out ok though, I'm thinking the big mad monster truck and the vw beetle will look fantastic all soft and vignetted... there was also a bizarre stall with hundreds of soft toys that I took a pic of, fingers x'd for them...

Crikey you must have left there before I arrived. I got there just as that person lost their vw carkeys and then had it announced over the loudspeakers every 15 seconds for the next hour or so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

We actually arrived just as they were still setting up, and an hour or so later my arms were fried, my battery was dead (would the AF on my new lens be much heavier on the battery? It doesn't normally run out so quick!), and I was out of film on the holga... but there was still a huge queue of people waiting to get in when we left.

    You processed any shots, yet?

I did a few gas mask ones and some car ones too - I will put throw a couple up at lunchtime.

I thought that was very funny. Announcement went like "... you might bring it to the announcement tower...".

And the next one. A 12 year old boy (can't remember his name) is missing. He wearing a top with Ribena stain on it.. etc! If you see him wandering around with Ribena stain on the front of his top, you might bring him to the announcement tower...

    :D

It was pretty funny hearing the announcement from whichever car club it was - 'sorry we couldnt uhm, provide you with programmes today as the company who were supposed to produce them went into liquidation so... uh, due to circumstances outwith our control we couldnt offer programmes and we are very sorry about that so...'

The highlight of the day was actually the tannoy i think...

They ribena-stain top kid was definitely famous for a day. There was another one at the end of the day 'If you see any rubbish on the ground on your way out you might want to pick it up and put it in the bins"

Well, I managed to find a few I liked (aside from the reflections and glare from sun).
