I think both hands are fine. First hand his min raise looks like a couple of things, pot builder with a K (possible a king+pair, but I don't think he folds this), a bet looking to buy a free card on the turn, an info bet with a queen maybe, 89 inducing action etc.
Against the majority of those hands you wana put in a good raise.
Not sure if my analysis is very good, but the way I see it, if you think you have the best hand, raise it.

Second hand is fine imo. You don't want to give free cards to hands like J8s

I would just fold QTo from UTG in the first hand. The rest of it's fine.

Hand 2 is ok. I don't think he folds any decent jack at this level with him getting better than 2/1 the call, and could well call with OESDs too.

I don't think a lower raise will help you win any more, it would have to be a minraise and would leave you both potcommitted
