Can't boot from CD, will GRUB help

So I cannot boot from the CD drive. I think there is a problem with the BIOS. When I get to the system boot menu during startup, the keyboard puts on a fancy LED display (num lock, caps lock, scroll lock flash in sequence) and wont respond.

SUSE is already on the machine. During startup it presents a choice of normal and safe mode. So I'm thinking of booting up and changing this GRUB (I think) menu to boot to the CD.

    Does anybody know how?

Interesting idea. You might be able to point grub at a cdrom drive alright, but it'll need a compressed linux kernel on it. You should just need to copy / paste the line in your grub file and change the device name / kernel filename.
